Major, a military judge in the Hungarian air force during World War II, describes his activity dealing with trials of Hungarian deserters. After 1945, in the second period of his career, he acted as public prosecutor in the Hungarian People's Court. His main case was the trial of former Prime Minister László Bárdossy. The trial of war criminal Lieutenant-Colonel Lipót Muray (Metzl) is mentioned on pp. 161-166. He was sentenced to death for brutalities committed as commander of a Jewish labor battalion. Pp. 279-301 examine the circumstances and aftermath of two pogroms which occurred in Hungary in 1946, at Kunmadaras and Miskolc.
