where he had charge of one of the two guns attached to the Column, which by his perseveranc saved from capture during the retreat; served during the Chinese war of 1841-42, commanded th the repulse of the enemy's night-attack at Chinhae, and at the storm and capture of Chapoo; ser Major of Brigade to Sir James Schoedde at Woosung, Shanghai, and Chin Kiang Foo-twice ment (Medal, Brevet Major, and CB.). Served the Eastern campaign of 1854, including the battles of (wounded and horse shot), siege of Sebastopol, and repulse of the sortie of 26th October. Co Regiment and subsequently the 1st Brigade 2nd Division at the battle of Inkerman. Mentione and in the report of Sir De Lacy Evans for the battle of the Alma, and in the despatches for Gazetted to a Substantive Lieutenant Colonelcy for Inkerman on 12th Dec. 1854, but declined motion which would have removed him from the seat of war and placed him on half pay whils serving in the field. Reward for distinguished services, 1855: Medal with three Clasps, Knig Honor, Turkish Medal, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and KCB. in 1871.

2 General Maxwell served in the Crimea from 8 Nov. 1854, and commanded the 46th Reg and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, CB., Knight of the Legion of Honor, 5th Class of Turkish Medal).

Lt.Colonel Rowland served with the 45th Regt. in the Orange River Sovereignty during 1851-53 (Medal). Served with the 55th Regiment on the Bhootan expedition, including the reca in 1865 (Medal).

7 Lt.Colonel Bellamy, Majors Morton and Gillies, Captains Pitt and Inglis served on the B in 1865 (Medal with Clasp).

8 Lt.Colonel Dyson-Laurie served with the 34th Regiment in the Crimea from the roth August siege and fall of Sebastopol, and was severely wounded at the assault of the Redan on the 8th S wounded on a former occasion (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the In 1858-59, including the capture of Meeangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow, relief of Azim rebels at Bootwul, and affair at Bhowanie (Medal with Clasp). Served in Afghanistan in 187 communications on the Khyber line (Medal).

Lt.Colonel Hill served with the 23rd Fusiliers in the Crimea, subsequent to the fall of Se 12th December 1855 to the end of the Russian war in 1856. Also in the Indian campaign of 185 siege and capture of Lucknow, and operations across the Goomtee (Medal with Clasp). 10 Major Malcolm served with the 34th Regiment in the Indian campaign in 1857-59, includ Cawnpore on 26th 27th and 28th Nov. 1857, siege and capture of Lucknow, and defeat of the (Medal with Clasp).

11 Major Tufnell served with the 93rd Highlanders at the relief of the Garrison of Lucknow i defence of Cawnpore and defeat of the Gwalior mutineers there and at Seria Ghat, also pres Kalee Nuddee (Medal with Clasp).

12 Major Riley and Captain Braddon served on the Bhootan expedition, including the reca in 1865 (Medal with Clasp).

13 Major Treeve served throughout the Oude campaign in 1858, including the actions of Pu pore, attack and capture of Fort Mittowlie, and the action of Bishwa (Medal). Served throug of 1860 in China, including the action of Sinho, taking of Tangku, and surrender of Pekin (Meda 18 Quarter Master Vickers served with the 55th Regiment throughout the Eastern camp cluding the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, repulse of the sortie of assault of the Redan on the 8th Sept.-wounded (Medal with three Clasps). Served also on dition, including the recapture of Dewangiri in 1865 (Medal with Clasp). 19 Captain Eliott.-For War Services, see Army Pay Department.
