Mr. H. B. Payne offered the following amendment to section ii. of Canon vii.:

To strike out the word "nine" in the second section of Canon seventh at the ninth line and insert "five," and to strike out the word "five" in the twelfth line and insert the word "three;" also strike out the word "five" in the fifteenth line and insert the word "three "

Referred to the Committee on Canons.

On motion, the rules were suspended, and the Hon. Andrew Ingram was unanimously re-elected Treasurer of the Diocese.

J. S. Irwin, M. D., proposed the following preamble and resolution, which was adopted:

WHEREAS, The yearly amendment in part of the Constitution, By-Laws, and Canons of the Diocese is productive of discord in their action, and of great uncertainty in the minds of both Clergy and Laity as to what is the Diocesan Ecclesiastical Law; therefore, be it

Resolved, That a Committee of two Clergymen and two Laymen be ap pointed by the Chair, to whom shall be referred the entire REVISION of the Constitution, By-Laws, and Canons, which Committee shall report to the next Convention.

The election of Delegates to the General Convention and of the Standing Committee of the Diocese was ordered for to-morrow morning, immediately after the delivery of the Bishop's Annual Address.

On motion, balloting was dispensed with, and the Board of Trustees of the Diocese of last year were re-elected.

On motion of the Secretary, the Rev. E. J. Purdy was

chosen to fill the vacancy in the Board of Trustees of the General Theological Seminary.

Adjourned till to-morrow morning at nine o'clock.

EVENING.

Evening Prayer was said to the Creed by the Rev. E. J. Purdy, the Rev. W. L. Githens reading the Lessons, and the Rev. J. A. Merrick from the Creed. The sermon was preached by the Rev. C. W. Fitch, D. D., from St. John's Gospel iii., iii.

SECOND DAY.

THURSDAY, June 5, 9 o'clock A. M.

Morning Prayer was said by the Rev. Horace Stringfel low, Jr., of Christ Church, Indianapolis, and the Rev. S. H. Battin, of Trinity Church, Fort Wayne.

The President called the Convention to order.

The Secretary called the roll and read the minutes, which were approved.

The Committe on Canons offered the following

REPORT:

The Committee on Canons, to whom was referred the proposed alteration of article viii. of the Constitution, respectfully report. They recommend that the proposed alteration be not adopted by this Convention.

They also recommend that the following changes in Canon vii. be approved,

to wit:

That the word "nine" in the second section of said Canon be struck out and the word "seven" inserted in lieu thereof, and that the word "five" be struck out of said section and the word "three" inserted in lieu thereof.

On motion of Mr. H. B. Payne, it was

Resolved, That the Report of the Committee on section ii. of Canon vii. be concurred in.

On motion of Rev. Mr. Runcie, it was

Ordered, That the Report of the Committee on article viii. of the Constitution, be concurred in.

J. S. Irwin, M. D., offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That each Parish of the Diocese be assessed the sum of one dollar for each Communicant in the Parish, for the Bishop's support and Contingent Fund, payable to the Treasurer of the Diocese in quarterly payments, say on the first days of July, October, January, and April, and that each Parish be held accountable for the payment of the assessment so made.

The Rt. Rev., the Bishop of the Diocese, then delivered his Annual Address.

On motion of the Rev. Mr. Stringfellow, it was

Resolved, That so much of the Bishop's Address as refers to the state of his health and absence from the Diocese, be referred to a Committee.

On motion of Rev. James Runcie, it was

Ordered, That said Committee be composed of two Clergymen and one Layman, to be appointed by the Chair.

The Rt. Rev., the President, appointed the following the Committee agreeably to the above resolution:

The Chair appointed the following Committee, on the resolution offered by John S. Irwin, M. D., during yesterday's session:

Rev. Mr. Russ, Rev. Mr. Runcie, and Hon. G. A. Bicknell.

Having called the Rev. Mr. Stringfellow to the Chair, the President withdrew.

The election of Delegates to the General Convention was ordered.

The Chair appointed the Rev. Messrs. Githens and Thompson as Tellers.

The election of the Standing Committee of the Diocese was ordered.

The Chair appointed the Rev. Mr. Birdsall and Mr. H. B. Payne as Tellers.

On motion of Rev. Dr. Fitch, it was

Resolved, That when this Convention adjourn, it adjourn to meet in St. Stephen's Church, Terre Haute, on the first Wednesday in June, 1863.
