[5] Another murderer executed. This morning Sarah Fletcher, for the murder of her new-born infant at Wandsworth was, pursuant to her sentence, executed on a temporary scaffold, upon the top of the new prison, Horsemonger lane, and her body, after having been suspended the usual time, was cut down and delivered over for dissection.

[5] Caution to Farriers.A few days ago, as Mr Pearcy of Sheffield Park, blacksmith, was bleeding an ass which was affected with the glanders, some of the moisture having got into a green wound in his hand, occasioned his death three days afterwards.

[12] Inquisition abolished Cadiz, March 28. The clergy have at length read in their churches the decree for the abolition of the Inquisition.

[21] A noble act of charity. Last week Mr Thomson of the bank of Scotland's office, Aberdeen, received a letter dated traveller's-rcom, Ronald's tavern, inclosing L.11. Is. as a contribution from the gentlemen who occasionally occupy that room, for the families of the sufferers on board the Oscar.

[28] Effects of intoxication. On Sunday between three and four o'clock, a woman in a state of intoxication, while sitting by the fire in her house in Blackfriar's-wynd, was so dreadfully scorched by her

clothes catching fire, that she died in the course of three hours after. MAY.

[3] Humanity and Intrepidity-Last week a child fell into the Clyde, above Stone-byres linn, and although many people were present, none ventured to lend assistance except a French Surgeon, who leapt into the river and rescued the child just as it was about to be carried by the tortent over the precipice.

[3] Accident by folding up a bed. Last week a child that was lying in a house in the neighbourhood of Minyhive, was suffocated in consequence of a person folding up the bed, not knowing the child was in it.

[3] Accident from wild beasts. At Sleaford fair on Monday, a fine girl about 12 years of age, while witnessing an exhibition of wild beasts, having incautiously ventured too near the cage in which a licn was confined, the ferocious animal suddenly darted his paw through the wires of his prison, and fixing his talons in her sku, lacerated her in a most shocking manner.

[8] Murderer executed.-On Friday se'eunight, at 12 o'clock, Edith Morrey was delivered by Mr Hudson, constable of the Castle of Chester, into the hands of Mess, Thomas and Beunet the city sherriffs, for execution,-She was very much convu'sed for four minutes, when her pangs ceased. After hanging the usual time, her body was delivered to the surgeons for dissection, and was open to public inspection during all Saturday.

[17] Accident by fire-Died at Edenham, Mrs Goodwin, far advanced in years. Her death was occasioned by her clothes taking fire on the Tuesday preceding,

from a spark flying from the fire into her handkerchief.

[19] Honesty.-The L.100 note of the British Linen Company, which was dropped upon the Highstreet, Edinburgh by a gentleman on Thursday morning, was found by Mrs DAVIDSON, wife of John Davidson, Tailor, Advocate-close, who much to her credit, ordered the same to be cried through the city, in consequence of which it was restored to the owner, who rewarded her liberally.

[19] A child falls into a boiler. On Saturday last, a child of about seven years of age fell into a copper boiler for dying hats, in Dumfries, and after languishing for about two hours, expired in the greatest agony.

[28] Effects of Gambling. The nephew of a great law-lord, was executed at Lisbon, on the 7th --fle had involved himself by gambling, and being detected in the act of robbing the house of his English friend, by a Portuguese servant, he shot him to prevent discovery. After execution his head was severed from his body, and fixed on a pole opposite the house in which the murder and robbery were committed.

[31] Boat upsetting.-Sunday afternoon, a peter-boat, belonging to Moore, a fisherman, in which were ten persons, going down the river, was upset at Woolwich, through the unskilfulness of the party in managing the sail.

[7] Fatal gambling-Mr Brograve, brother to Sir G. Brograve, having lost a considerable sum at the last Newmarket meeting, and above 10,100 more at the Epsom races, shot himself yesterday.

[9] A child falls into a wellOn Tuesday a boy at Hamilton

about five years of age, was sent by his nurse to a well for a cup full of water, when he unfortunately slipt into it and was drowned.

[22] Benevolence. The benevolent Mr Webb, who commenced. his charitable career at Norwich some time ago, lately distributed 1250. in Sarewsbury, 670'. of which is appropriated to the apprenticing of friendless and orphan children. It is said that Mr Webb's income amounts to 12,000!. of which he annually disperses 10,000l. in charities.

[21] Fire-by a candle under a bed. Tues lay, a fire broke out in the second story of a dwellinghouse, occupied by Mrs Adams in Angel-court, Strand. The accident was occasioned by a boy whilst holding a lighted candle under the bedstead to look for a piece of money which he had dropped.

(28) Fatal inebriety.-On Tuesday evening a servant of Mr Bray of Diss Common, returning from Ipswich with the care of a loaded waggon, imprudently got much intoxicated, and in consequence thereof, forgot the necessary precaution of clogging the wheels when coming down a steep part of the road whereby he lost the command of the horses, in trying to regan which, his foot slipped, and falling under the wheels his head was literally crushed to pieces.

(30) Humane exertions of a man of colour.-Saturday afternoon, a young man a baker from the country, was drowned while bathing in the Clyde at Peat Bog Glasgow; by the spirited exertions of a man of colour, he was got out in about 10 minutes, and the usual means for restoring animation persevered in a considerable time without effect. The body of the

unfortunate youth was afterwards opened, when it was found he had burst a blood vessel.

JULY.

[3] Boy falls from a precipice, On Thursday a fine boy, who had gone too near the edge of the precipice of Salisbury Craig, Edinburgh, nearly opposite the Abbey, fell down and was killed on the spot.

[5] Murderer convicted.-An inquisition was held in Spitalfield's on Wednesday, on the body of Mary Relph, (before J. W. Unwin, Esq. Coroner for Middlesex); when the jury, after a patient investigation of several hours, returned a verdict of wilful murder against Richard Reiph, her husband, for strangling the deceased with his ́own hands, on the night of Sunday last.

[7] A bull turns on its tormentor. On Monday in Albion-street Glasgow, a bull which had been cruelly torn by dogs, turned upon one of the persons concerned in the torture, and gored him so dreadfully that his life is despaired of.

[7] Accident from a tea-pot.On Tuesday morning last, a little girl, daughter of a labouring man in Maryport, took a draught from the spout of a tea-pot of boiling water, which occasioned death.

[12] Boy run over in the street. A boy was run over in Pall-Mali by a gentleman's carriage. The fore-wheel went over his chest, and he was removed to the hospital, where he died.

[16] Men struck down by lightning nigh iron-On Sunday the 27th ult, during a dreadful storm of thunder and lightningfour men, in the parish of Crathy, standing near a house where some bars of iron had been set up against the wall, were all struck down by the lightning.

[21] A boy drowned-On Sunday se'enight, a boy about three years of age, having gone from his parents at Porto Bello, fell into the water a little below the bridge and was unfortunately drowned.

[21] Murderers executed.-On Wednesday last John M'Donald, painter, and James Williamson Black, slater, who were convicted before the High Court of Justiciary of the murder and robbery of ar Muirhead, near Coltbridge, were executed upon the spot where the murder was committed.

[23] A friend in need.—Thurs day last, the goods of a cottager, who lives on the borders of Norwood, and has a wife with eight small children, were seized on for rent; and whilst the woman was imploring the mercy of the officer, a gentleman came riding along, and perceiving her distress, enquired into the cause, and immediately discharged the demand, by giving an order for the payment of the money, at a banker's, in Lombard-street. The sum a mounted to 15l. 10s. 4d.

[28] Tree struck by lightning. During one of the late thunder storms a large ash tree at Borochan, Renfrewshire, was struck by lightning, the bark torn off and the tree spilt to the ground.

[28] Death by excessive drinkng. A few days ago a deserter Tom the 21st regiment was appreended and lodged in Hamilton jail, and on Wednesday he died in prion in consequence of excessive rinking.

[28] Rage and Intoxication. On Monday night, or early on Tuesday morning, some altercation aving arisen betwixt Sergt. Andrew Cullin, or Cullins, of the 21st cegiment now lying at Fort George, and his wife, he seized a chisel with which he stabbed her in different parts of the body and thereby occasioned her death: he afterward inflicted several wounds on himself, from which he is not expected to recover. Cullins it is said had been more or less intoxicated for several days, and in this phrenzied state committed these dreadful acts from which the mind revolts with horror.

AUGUST.

[4] Swinging on a cart-On Thursday, in Ponton-street, Fountain-bridge, the tram of a cart upon which some children were swinging, fell upon the head of a fine young boy, and instantly crushed him to death.

[4] Robbing Children.-Yesterday a woman was charged at Malborough-street-office with robbing and stripping children. To one child carrying an unfinished frock to school, she gave a halfpenny to buy fruit-took the frock under the pretence of keeping it for her till her return, and absconded with it as soon as the child was gone for the fruit. Another child she decoyed into a by-place and strip. ped her nearly naked.

[4] A fall from a tree-On Sunday night, a boy fell from a tree in the Green, Glasgow, and received a severe contusion in the head, and was otherwise so much

hurt, that he died shortly after he was carried to the Royal Infirmary.

[4] Intoxication.-On Wednesday afternoon, a maimed soldier being intoxicated jumped into the Clyde at Glasgow and drowned himself--his body was son after found, but all attempts to restore animation proved ineffectual. He has left a wife and three children.

[4] Flaying with a chaise.On Sunday sc'ennight as some children were at play about a chaise standing in Shakespeare square, Dumfries, one of them unluckily removed a stone which was fixed behind one of the wheels, when the vehicle was burried down the declivity, and passing over a boy, broke his arm and thigh in a shocking manner.

(4) Accident by the kick of a horse-An unfortunate accident happened on monday last to a man of the name of Welsh, servant to Mr Gordon of l'orrory, in the parish of Kirkbean. He had been ploughing, and one of the horses becoming rather restive from the flies and heat of the day entangled his legs in the reins, and the servant going round to relieve them received a kick from the horse on the belly, which so injured the intestines as to occasion his death.

[6] Accident by fire damp Saturday se'enight, a dreadful accident happened at Collingwoodmain colliery, near North-Shields, by an explosion of a fire damp; eight of the men were killed, and two severely burnt.

[6] A child falls into a wellFriday se'ennight, a child of Mr R. Knight's of Creech St. Michael, near Taunton, abont 19 months old, having walked to a neighbour's house, unperceived, was at length missed, and was found in the well which was 18 feet deep from the top to the surface of the water.

[9] Child stripping. An elderly iniserable looking woman, was charged with having stollen an unfinished frock from a child on Lisson Green, Paddington, and with stripping another child near the same spot.

[9] Murderer convicted. At the assizes at Chelmsford, August 6th, William Cornewall, a horse keeper, was convicted of the murder of Mrs Stevens, at Woodford, on the 5th June, and sentenced to death.

[9] Fire arms.-Last week at Wainfleet All Saints, a boy took up a gun which happened to be loaded, and sportively presenting it at his grandmother, shot her instantly dead.

[14] Dreadful accident.Tues. day morning, the undermined works of a colliery at Bradley, Staffordshire, fell in, and completely buried seven men and three boys. [16] Suspended animation restored. Tuesday morning, about 9 o'clock, a young man, a caulker, at-work on the side of a ship, at Rotherhithe, by some accident, fell from the machine into the stream, and immediately sunk. He was dragged for, and after lying in the water about fifteen minutes, the body was taken up, and conveyed to a house on shore, in apparently a lifeless state. After the means for the recovery of suspended animation had been used a short time, symptoms of life were visible, and in less than an hour he was so far recovered as to be able to speak, and is in a fair way of doing well. [16] Murderers executed.-On Friday se ennight, Azabah Fountain and G. T. Rowell, convicted at the Lincoln assizes of the murder of the husband of the former by po'son, were launched into eternity. After hanging the usual time, the bodies were removed to

a building in the Castle-yard for dissection.

[16] Murderer executed.--Antome Tardit, the French prisoner who was condemned at Winchester assizes, was on Monday se'enaight executed at Porchester, pursuant to his sentence.

[20] Accident by a bite of a horse. Last week, in the parish of Methluck, a man driving a cart, heavily loaded with wood, when at the top of a rising ground, unyoked the horse for the purpose of of allowing him some rest, when the animal seized the driver with his teeth, and nearly laid open one side of his head, by which the unfortunate man was thrown to thei ground, and immediately trampled to death.

[23] Excessive passion —Late ly in a post chaise, Capt. O Bryne, his death was occasioned by the bursting of a blood vessel in excess • of rage with a postition who offended him by slow driving.

[25] Murderer executed.Nicolson, the murderer of Mr and Mrs Bonar, was executed yesterdag morning, on Pennenden Heath.

[25] A bank gives way —On Saturday while two of the labourers were employed in levelling the ground for the new depot, Greenlaw, a large bank of earth v hich had been undermined gave way, and nearly buried them alive. They were dug out and carried to Pennycuik for medical assistance, but one of them died before it could be procured.

[25] Accident by a fall from a window On Friday, last while a servant girl was cleaning one of the windows in Dunlop-house. parish of Dunlop, Ayrshire, she unfortunately let go her hold, and fell to the ground, by which she was so shockingly bruised, that though medical aid was brought,
