Repeal.

49. The several Acts mentioned in the schedule to this Act are hereby repealed, provided that

(1.) Any enactment or document referring to any Act or enactment hereby repealed shall be construed to refer to this Act or to the corresponding enactment in this Act. (2.) This repeal shall not affect

(a) the past operation of any enactment hereby repealed nor any thing duly done or suffered under any enactment hereby repealed; or

(b) any right, privilege, obligation, or liability acquired, accrued, or incurred under any enactment hereby repealed; or

(c) any penalty, forfeiture, or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against any enactments hereby repealed; or

(d) any investigation, legal proceeding or remedy in respect of any such right, privilege,obligation, liability, penalty forfeiture, or punishment as afore said; and any such investigation, legal proceeding and remedy may be carried on as if this Act had not passed; or

(e) any Act in which the enactments hereby repealed have been applied, incorporated or referred to.

(3.) This repeal shall not revive any enactment, right, office, privilege, matter or thing not in force or existing at the passing of this Act.

An Act to consolidate and amend the Acts of this Island relating to livery and hackney carriages.

E it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly of this Island, and by the authority of the same as follows; Short title,

1. This Act may be cited as 66 The Livery and Hackney Carriage Act, 1891." 2. It shall not be lawful for let to hire any livery or hackney carriage except in conformity with the provisions of

this Act.

3. (1) Any person desirous of obtaining a such carriage is to license to keep, use, and let to hire any carbe obtained. riage, as a livery or hackney carriage must apply in writing to the inspector general of police, in order that he may cause an inspection to be made of such carriage, and if the same shall be found to be in a fit and proper condition for public use, he shall grant a certificate to that effect, and shall specify in such certificate the number of persons to be carried in and by such carriage in the form to this section annexed; and upon the production of such certificate to the treasurer of the Island, and upon payment of the fee hereinafter specified a license in writing shall be granted by the said treasurer to keep, use, and let to hire, for twelve months next ensuing, the carriage mentioned in such certificate; and every such license shall be numbered, and the description of the carriage, and the number
