BLACKIE'S COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL SERIES. HISTORICAL READER, No. IV. OUTLINES OF THE HISTORY OF ENGLAND. PART II. FROM JAMES I. TO THE PRESENT TIME. ADAPTED TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE EDUCATION CODE, BY GEORGE GIRLING, Head-master Aldenham Street Board School, London, and formerly Normal Master BLACKIE & SON, 49 & 50 OLD BAILEY, E.C. GLASGOW, EDINBURGH, AND DUBLIN. 228.752 PREFACE TO PART II. This book has been adapted to meet the requirements of the Education Code for Standard VI., and comprises Outlines of English History from the Stuart Period to the present day. The reign of Victoria has been written with special fulness, as it often happens that children know a great deal of William the Conqueror and little of the history near to their own time. This book is intended, like Part I., to be used as a class reading book, but it is also sufficiently full to be used by the upper division of a School taking History as a special subject. Parts I. and II. form a complete manual of English History, which may be used preparatory to a more extended study of English History. LONDON, June 20, 1882. |
