LEGACY AND PROBATE DUTY.-The amount of Legacy Duty paid in 1854 was, in Great Britain, 1,458,211., on a capital amounting to 55,091,4347.; in Ireland, the duty was 71,073., on a capital of 3,282,7271. In this return the succession duty, under the 16 and 17 Vict., cap. 51, is included. The stamp duty on Probates, Administrations, and Testamentary Inventories, in the same year, was 1,104,7361. for England and Scotland, and 72,1757. for Ireland. II.—Currency.
