A new Commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another.

I. WHY is this call'd a New Command?

1. Negatively. Not as if it was not enjoin'd before, 1 S. Jah, ii. 7. 2 S. Joh. 5. Levit. xix. 18.

1. Newly freed from the falfe Gloffes of the Jews, S. Matt. V. 43, 44.

2. Newly infufed into the Heart, as well as commanded.

3. Chrift adds a new Authority to it, and a new Obligation on us.

II. By what Power doth Chrift lay His Commands on us?

IV. How is Chrift's Love to us to be a Pattern of our Love?

USE. Love one another.

Confider,

1. You cannot express your Love to others, fo as Chrift hath to you.

2. Unless you love others, you have no Love for GOD, I S. Joh. iii. 17.

3. It is look'd on as the fulfilling of all the Law, Rom. xiii. 9.

4. No Duty is accepted without it, 1 Cor. xiii. 1, 2, 3.

5. Love is the Badge of a Christian, S. Joh. xiii. 35.

6. An everlasting Grace, I Cor. xiii. 8, 13. 7. Chrift will judge us according to this Command, S. Matt. XXV. 45.
