Q. What follows hence?

A. That we should labour to obtain forgiveness of Sins, Pfal. xxxii. 1. Blessed is he whofe tranfgreffion is forgiven, whofe fin is covered.

The Resurrection of the Body.

Q. What is the meaning of that?

A. That the Bodies of all men that die fhall rife again to Life.

Q. Was this believed in the Old Testament? A. Yes, Job xix. 25, 26. For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth; and though after my skin, worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I fee God. Dan. xii. 2. And many of them that fleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, fome to everlafting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Q. What Examples were then of it?

A. The Widow of Zarephath's Child, I Reg. xvii. 21, 22. And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and faid, O Lord my God, I pray thee let this child's foul come into him again. And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah, and the foul of the Child came into him again, and he revived. The Shuna

mite's Son, 2 Reg. 4. 35. Then he returned and walked in the house to and fro, and went up and Stretched himself upon him: and the child neefed fe ven times, and the child opened his eyes. Another,

2 Reg. xiii. 2. And it came to pass as they were burying a man, that behold they spied a band of men, and they caft the man into the fepulchre of Elifba;

Elisha; and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood upon his feet.

Q. What Proof in the new Teftament?

A. I Cor. XV. 12, 20. Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you, that there is no refurrection of the dead. But now is Chrift rifen from the dead, and become the firft fruits of them that flept. Matth. xxii. 31, 32. But as touching the refurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, Saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Ifaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Shall the fame Bodies arife?

A. Yes, John xx. 27. Then faith he to Thomas, reach bither thy finger, and behold my hands, and reach bither thy hand, and thrust it into my fide, and be not faithless, but believing. Rom. viii. 11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jefus from the dead dwell in you; he that raised up Chrift from the dead, shall also quicken your mortal bodies, by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Otherwife it is no Refurrection, John v. 28. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the Graves shall hear bis voice.

Q. Whofe Bodies fhall arife?

A. All, I Cor. xv. 22. For as in Adam all die, even fo in Chrift shall all be made alive.

Q. Why fhall all rife?

A. That they may be all judged, 2 Cor. v. 10. For we must all appear before the judgment-feat of Chrift; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether

it be good or bad. Matth. xxv. 32. And before him shall be gathered all Nations; and he shall feparate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats. Q. What use of this?

A. To make us prepare for it, Acts xxiv. 15,16. And have hope towards God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a refurrection of the dead, both of just and unjust. Ver. 16. And herein do I exercife my felf to have always a confcience void of offence toward God, and toward

men.

And the Life everlasting.

Q. What means that?

A. That all men when rifen fhall live everlaftingly.

Q. Where?

A. In Hell or Heaven, Dan. xii. 2. And many of them that fleep in the dust of the Earth shall awake, fome to everlasting life, and some to Shame and everlasting contempt. John v. 29. And fball come forth, they that have done good, unto the refurrection of life, and they that have done evil, unte the refurrection of damnation.

Q. Who fhall live in Hell?

A. The unjuft and wicked, Rev. xxi. 8. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and forcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the Second death.

A. Chrift, Matth. xxv. 41. Then shall he say alfe unto them on the left hand, depart from me ye curfed into everlafting fire, prepared for the Devil and bis Angels.

A. The Wrath of God, I Theff. i. 10. And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he rai-. fed from the dead, even Jefus which delivered us from the wrath to come. 2 Theff. i. 9. Who shall be punished with everlasting deftruction from the prefence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. And the Terrors of a guilty Confcience, Mark ix. Mark ix. 44. Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Q. Shall their Bodies too be tormented?

A. Yes, Matth. x. 28. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the foul; but ra ther fear him which is able to destroy both foul and body in hell.

2. How long?

A. For ever, Matth. xxv. 46. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal. Dan. xii. 2. And many of them that fleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlafting life, and fome to shame and everlasting contempt. Q. What muft we do then?

A. Watch, Mark xiii. 37. And what I say unto you, I say unto all, watch.

Life everlasting.

Q. Who fhall always live in Heaven?

A. The Righteous, Matth. xxv. 46. And these fball go away into everlasting punishment; but the

righteous into life eternal. Matth. v. 20. For I fay unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the fcribes and pharifees, ye shall in no cafe enter into the kingdom of heaven.

O. Who will fend them thither?

A. Chrift, Mat. xxv. 34. Then fhall the king say unto them on his right hand, come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Q. How will they live there?

A. In all Happinefs of Soul and Body.
Q. How in Body?

A. Glorious, I Cor. xv. 42. So alfo is the refurrection of the dead. It is fown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption, &c. Phil. iii. 21. Who shall change our vile bodies, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to fubdue all things unto himself.

Q. How in their Souls and whole Man?

A. Mat. xxii. 30. For in the refurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the Angels of God in Heaven.

I. Free from all Trouble, Revel. xxi. 4. And God fhall wipe away all Tears from their eyes, and there Shall be no more death, neither forrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are paffed away.

2. Full of all Joy, Pfal. xvi. 11. Thou wilt fhew me the path of life: in thy prefence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Q. Whom will they live with?

A. 1. Angels and Saints, Als xxvi. 18. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of fins, and inheritance among them which are fanctified by faith that is in me.
