8 MAT. X. 24, 25: The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. JOHN, vii. 12: Some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay, but he deceiveth the people. do. xv. 20 : Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. m Deut. viii. 5: Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee. 2 Sam. vii. 14: I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men.
Ps. xciv. 12: Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law. Pro. xiii. 24: He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. do. xix. 18 : Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. do. xxiii. 13: Withhold not correction from the child : for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Ps. lxxiii. 14, 15: All the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. nasseh knew that the LORD he was God. Ps. cxix. 67, 71 : Before I was afflicted I went astray : but now have I kept thy word. It is good for me that I have been afflicted ; that I might learn thy statutes. Pro. xxix. 15: The rod and reproof give wisdom. Jer. xxxi. 18, 19: I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock' unaccustomed to the yoke : turn thou me, and I shall be turned ; for thou art the Lord my God. Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.
