Christ our Sacrifice.
On Jewish altars slain,
Could give the guilty conscience peace, Or wash away the stain.
2 But Christ, the heavenly Lamb, Takes all our sins away;
A sacrifice of nobler name, And richer blood than they.
3 My faith would lay her hand On that dear head of thine, While deeply penitent I stand, And there confess my sin.

To see the curse remove;

Bless the dark world with heavenly light: Thy gospel makes the simple wise,

God, how endless is thy love! Thy gifts are every evening new ; And morning mercies from above, Gently distil like early dew.

A cheerful song of grateful praise To God, our God, who reigns on high, Whose mercies are forever nigh.
2 Bring praises for our Father's love, Who saw us from his throne above, Blind, naked, wretched, sunk, and lost And brought relief at boundless cost. 3 That cost, the gift of his own Son : Oh wondrous love! the Holy One Given freely up to death, that we, The slaves of sin, might freemen be!
