4 Soon shall I see, and hear, and know,
All I desired or wished below;
And every power find sweet employ
In that eternal world of joy.

223.

We all shall meet in heaven.

How blessed is the tie that binds

Believers' hearts in one;

How sweet the hope that tunes our minds
In harmony divine :

It is the hope, the blissful hope,

Which Jesu's grace hath given,

The hope, when days and years are past,
That we shall meet in heaven :

We all shall meet in heaven at last,
With Jesus meet in heaven;
With Him, when days and years are past,
We all shall meet in heaven.

2 What though our lot in trial here,
Or poverty, be cast;

C.M.

What though, around our sorrowing heart,
May howl the wintry blast;

Yet still we share the blissful hope, &c.

3 From Burmah's shores, from Afric's strand,
From India's burning plain,

From Europe's and Columbia's land,
We hope to meet again:

It is the hope, the blissful hope, &c.

4 No lingering look, no parting sigh,
Our future meeting knows;

There love shall beam from every eye,
And hope immortal grows.

O sacred hope! O blissful hope! &c.

224. "Thou art my refuge and my portion."

1

JESUS,

ESUS, lover of my soul,
Let me to thy bosom fly,
While the billows near me roll,
While the tempest still is high:
Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
Till the storm of life be o'er,
Safe into the haven guide,

Where the tempests rage no more.

2. Other refuge have I none;

Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, O leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me.
All my trust on Thee is stayed,
All my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenceless head

With the shadow of thy wing.
3 Thou, O Lord, art all I want;
Boundless love in Thee I find:
Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the sick, and lead the blind.-
Just and holy is thy name;

I am all unrighteousness;
I am full of sin and shame;

Thou art full of truth and grace.

4 Plenteous grace with Thee is found,
Grace to pardon all my sin;
Let the healing streams abound,
Make and keep me pure within.
Thou of life the fountain art,
Freely I would take of Thee;
Let thy love within my heart
Dwell to all eternity.

The glory and grace of Christ.

Now

to the Lord a noble song;

Awake my soul, awake my tongue;
Hosanna to th' eternal name,

And all his boundless love proclaim.

2 See where it shines in Jesu's face,
The brightest image of his grace :
God, in the person of his Son,
Has all his mightiest works outdone.

3 The spacious earth, and spreading flood,
Proclaim the wise and powerful God:
And thy rich glories from afar
Sparkle in every rolling star.

4 But in his looks a glory stands,
The noblest labour of thine hands ;
The pleasing lustre of his eyes
Outshines the wonders of the skies.

5 Grace, 'tis a sweet and charming theme;
Our thoughts rejoice at Jesu's name;
Ye angels, dwell upon the sound;
Ye heavens, reflect it to the ground.

6 Soon shall we reach the blissful place
Where He unveils his lovely face;
Where all his beauties they behold,
And sing his name to harps of gold.

226. The humiliation and exaltation of Christ. C.M.

THE

head that once was crowned with thorns,

Is crowned with glory now;

A royal diadem adorns

The mighty victor's brow.

2 The highest place that heaven affords,
Is his by sovereign right;

The King of kings, and Lord of Lords,
He reigns in glory bright.

3 The joy of all who dwell above,
The joy of saints below;
To us still manifest thy love,

That we its depths may know.

4 To us thy cross, with all its shame,
With all its grace be given;
Though earth disowns thy lovely name,
All worship it in heaven.

5 Who suffer with Thee, Lord, below,
Shall reign with Thee above;
Their glory and their joy to know
The mystery of thy love.

6 To us thy cross is life and health, ́

227.

Though shame and death to Thee;
Our glory, peace, and boundless wealth,
Throughout eternity.

The cross of Christ.

1 (WEET the moments, rich in blessing,
Which before the cross we spend,
Life, and health, and peace possessing,
From the sinner's dying friend.

2 Here we rest, in wonder viewing,
All our sins on Jesus laid,
And a full redemption flowing
From the sacrifice He made.

3 Here we find the dawn of heaven,
While upon the cross we gaze,

See our trespasses forgiven,
And our songs of triumph raise.

8.7.

4 O that, near the cross abiding,
We may to the Saviour cleave;
Nought with Him our hearts dividing;
All, for Him, content to leave.

5 May we still, the cross discerning,
There for peace and comfort go;
There new wonders daily learning,
All the depths of mercy know.

The Rock of ages.

OCK of ages, cleft for me,

R Lo, I hide my self in Thee;

Where the water and the blood,
From thy wounded side which flowed,
Are of sin the double cure,
Cleansing from its guilt and power.

2 Not the labour of my hands,
Can fulfil the law's demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.
3 Nothing in my hand I bring;
Simply to thy cross I cling;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Guilty, plead thy righteousness;
Vile, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Saviour, or I die.

4 While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyelids close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on thy judgment throne,-
Rock of ages, cleft for me,
Still I'll hide myself in Thee.
