Thofe only that are thus difpofed, fhall be reputed my Difciples. And take notice moreover, that they who deny me to fave their Life, hall often lofe it; and on the contrary, many, who thall couragiously hazard it for my fake, fhall fave it. Thus, if you regard only temporal advantages, it will be beneficial openly to profefs your being my Difciples; for what will all the good things you expect to gain by your Treachery, avail you, if at laft you lofe your Life, the most valuable of all human Bleflings? With how much reafon then ought you to part with all thefe, nay Life it felf, for the obtaining endless Happiness in a future ftate, which fhall be the reward of thofe only who perfift in a conftant profeflion of being my Difciples? THE eighth day after thefe Difcourfes pafs'd, Jefus commanded Peter, Fames. and John, the Sons of Zebedee, to retire with him into a very high Mountain, where he might pray without interruption from the Multitude. While he was at his Devotions not far from the three Apoftles juft now mention'd, fuddenly his Countenance chang'd, and began to fhine with divine Majefty, infomuch that the Eyes of the men were no more able to endure the Splendor of his Looks, than they could behold the Sun in its brighteft Luftre. His Garment alfo glitter'd with fo pure a white, as furpals'd the Art of Men to imitate. A little before this, Peter and his two Brethren were faft afleep, but now waking, they beheld this glorious Congress, and heard part of their Difcourfe. Not long after, Mofes and Elias began to take their leave of Jefus, and Peter willing to detain them, faid to Jefus, Malter, it is very beneficial for us to continue here, give us leave therefore to make three Tabernacles with the Boughs of Trees, one for thee, another for Mofes, and a third for Elias. Now Peter was fo aftonifh'd (as were the other Apostles alfo) that he icarce knew what he faid, fince he might easily have understood that Mofes and Elias were not come down from Heaven to make any long flay among Mortals here on Earth. Then the Voice of God was heard out of the middle of the Cloud, exprefling himself to this effect: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleafed Give diligent attention to his Doctrine and Precepts. The Apostles having heard the Voice, were fo terrified, that they fell flat with their Faces upon the ground.

But Fefus coming to them, commanded them to rife and chear up. They accordingly obey'd, and looking round faw neither the Cloud, nor the men that had kept their Mafter company, whom they now beheld with his ufual Countenance, and the Habit he had on before his Transformation.

Jefus then came down from the Mountain, with his Apoftles, and, by the way commanded them not to discover what they had feen till after his Refurrection
