In this edition several new precedents and a considerable number of new forms of clauses have been added; as to the latter, partly by incorporation in the precedents and partly in the notes; and the precedents and forms have been revised and rearranged with a view to convenience of use. The notes also have been considerably added to, and in many cases rewritten. Space has been obtained for the large amount of new matter by the omission of some precedents and parts of precedents of a very special or exceptional character, and the abridgment of others.

The index has been much amplified.

The editors desire to express their sense of the loss which they have sustained through being deprived (by his premature and much regretted death) of the assistance of Mr. Waley, whose great learning and ability were so conspicuously shown in the former edition of this volume and those on Mortgages and Settlements.
