4 THE COMMENTARY OF IBN EZRA ON ISAIAH: EDITED FROM MSS. AND TRANSLATED, WITH NOTES, BY M. FRIEDLÄNDER, PH. D. VOL. II., THE ANGLICAN VERSION OF THE BOOK OF THE PROPHET IBN EZRA. LONDON: PUBLISHED FOR THE SOCIETY OF HEBREW LITERATURE BY N. TRÜBNER & Co., 57 and 59, LUDGATE HILL, E.C. 1873. Cwm PREFACE. THE object of this Volume is to give, in a practical way, the results of the Commentary of Ibn Ezra on Isaiah. The Anglican Version has been amended for that purpose in the spirit of Ibn Ezra. The passages which have been altered are printed in italics. The foot notes contain the renderings which Ibn Ezra admitted to be possible, though he has not adopted them. It must, however, be borne in mind that the Editor has made such alterations only as were de manded by the Commentary. It is probable that the number of emendations would have been much larger if Ibn Ezra himself had written with direct reference to the Version or after its appearance. |
