The advantages offered by this Society are--ECONOMY combined with SECURITY, and LowER RATES of Premiums than those of any other Office, which entitle the Assured to participate in the Profits, and considerably lower than those of any other Mutual Assurance Society.

The WHOLE OF THE PROFITS are divided every fifth year among the Assured, and a Bonus is added, after the Payment of the Fifth Annual Premium, to every Policy effected on the Participating Scale, if a claim accrue thereon prior to the next division of Profits..

The Bonus declared in 1849, (arising from the whole of the Profits,) upon the Mutual Principle, averaged 625 per cent. on the Premiums received.

LOANS granted on such Policies as are purchaseable by the Society. Number of Policies in force on the 1st January, 1850, 5,476.

Amount of Assurance Fund, £970,000.

Annual Income, £170,000.

The annual income of this company exceeds One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Pounds.

The number of existing Policies is upwards of Four Thousand.

The total amount assured exceeds Two Million Eight Hundred Thonsand Pounds. At the last division of Surplus, about One Hundred Thousand Pounds was added to the Sums assured under Policies for the Whole Term of Life.

The Division is Quinquennial, and the whole Surplus (less 20 per cent. only) is distributed amongst the Assured.

The lives assured are permitted in time of peace to reside in any country, or to pass by sea (not being seafaring persons by profession), between any two parts of the same hemisphere distant more than 33 degrees from the Equator, without extra charge.

Deeds assigning Policies are registered at the Office, and Assignments can be effected on forms supplied by the Company.

The general business of the Company is conducted on just and liberal principles, and the interest of the assured in all particulars are carefully consulted.

The Annual Reports of the Company's state and progress, Prospectuses and Forms, may be had, or will be sent post-free, on application.

THE SOCIETY has made two divisions of profit, one in January, 1842, the other in January 1847. By the former division, the reversionary additions to the Policies amounted on the average to about 45 PER CENT. on the premiums paid during the five years ending Ist January, 1842; andly the latter to about 50 PER CENT. on the premiums paid during the five years ending 1st January, 1847.

The effect of these divisions will be seen by the examples in the following Table, shewing the additions made to certain existing Policies upon lives at various ages.

The Profits respectively allotted may be received by the Assured in present money, or by reduction of the Annual Premium, or by adding to the Policy an equivalent rever. sionary sum.

A fee of £1. 1s. is allowed by this Office for the certificate furnished by the Medical Referee of the party whose life is proposed to be assured.

The Directors are desirous of appointing AGENTS in the principal Country Towns in which they are not at present represented.

THE HON. MR. BARON ALDERSON LAW, GEORGE, Esq., Lincoln's Inn, Four-fifths of the profits of this Society are allotted, at the end of every seventh year, amongst the Assured. At the Third Division of Profits, to 31st December, 1847, a sur. plus Profit of 728,2831. was declared, in respect of which, Reversionary Bonuses were added to the several Policies, amounting to 883,0987.; and making, with the amounts added to the two previous Divisions, a total addition to the sums assured of 1,929,0857.

The following Table will show the total amount of Bonus added to Policies of 1000 each, which have been in force twenty-four years, ending 31st December, 1847:

The Assets of the Society exceed THREE AND A HALF MILLIONS STERLING, the whole

of which is invested in Government or real Securities.

Attendance is given at the Office daily, from Ten to Four.

The number of Policies issued since the 20th November, 1849, is 1,340, and the in

come thereon about 20,000l. per annum.

The total number of Policies issued from the commencement of the Institution in December, 1835, is 12,320, and the Annual Income is now upwards of 165,000l. Copies of the last Report, and all other information, may be obtained on application at the Office.

The Scale for middle and advanced Ages is especially favourable to the Public. By the Septennial BONUS of 1848, ADDITIONS have been made to Profit Policies (effected in Great Britain) averaging £65 per cent. between the ages of 20 and 25; £57 per cent. between the ages of 25 and 30; £52 per cent. between the ages of 30 and 353 and £47 per cent. between the ages of 33 and 40, on the respective amounts of premium paid in that period. Policies effected at the present time will participate in the next THOMAS LEWIS, Secretary.
