82. JONAS CLARK m. Mar. 3, 1803, ALICE WELLINGTON, of Waltham, dau. of William and Mary (Whitney) Wellington. Representative 1829, 30, 32, '41; selectman, assessor, &c. Mr. Clark, who is now residing in Waltham at the age of 89, is probably the oldest living descendant of Hugh Clark. His sound and vigorous old age, following a sober, industrious and useful life, makes him a good representative of the family as to some of its leading characteristics. Although a man of little pretension, but of rather retiring habits, yet from his well known good sense, integrity, and sound judgment, he has for a good part of his life, been kept in the public service as selectman, assessor, bank director, &c. He and his excellent and amiable wife, with whom he has lived more than half a century, have by their united efforts carefully reared a large and most worthy family, and they are, to a degree unusual in this life, blessed with the prolonged enjoyment of the respect and affection of those about them.
