The Revd. Peter Clark

For almost 51 years the Painful, Laborious and Faithful
Pastor of the first Church in this town.

He was a Great Divine, well established in the orthodox
Doctrines of the Gospel.

His writings on many important subjects will Transmit
His name with Honour to Posterity.

An accomplished Christian: well experienced in all the
Graces of the Divine Life.

The most exemplary Patience, Humility and Meekness were illustriously Displayed in his character as a Christian.

He was born March 12, 1693. Graduated at Harvard College in Cambridge in 1712. Ordained Pastor of the first church in this Town June 5, 1717.

He lived much esteemed and respected by men of learning and Piety and after a long life spent in the service of Religion, He died much lamented on June 10, 1768,

10. NATHANIEL CLARK m. June 13, 1726, MARY WYMAN, of Woburn, dau. of Thomas and Mary (Richardson) Wyman. He moved from Watertown with his family, but it is not known where he settled.

11. COL. JOSEPH BUCKMINSTER m. May 12, 1686, MARTHA SHARP, of Muddy River, now Brookline. He m. (2d) Feb. 7, 1716, MARTHA DALL, of Boston, who died Feb. 1725.

He removed to Framingham, and held many important offices in that town. He died in Fram. Apr. 5, 1747.

12. CAPT. JOHN CLARK m. Nov. 7, 1734, HANNAH CUTTING, of Waltham, only child of Capt. John and Sarah (Harrington) Cutting. He removed to Waltham about 1760, and died there May 31, 1773. His widow died 1774.

Mr. Clark was a man of strong character, and his reputation for ability and integrity gave him great influence in town. and church affairs. He was selectman of Newton 1746, 47, '58, and Representative 1758, '59, and 1760. His house at Waltham stood on the present site of the Central House, and his estate of 112 acres included a large part of the most valuable land in Waltham.

15. ATHERTON CLARK lived in Newton and Hopkinton. He had a good education, and occasionally taught school, but he was unfortunate in money matters, and his eccentricity led some persons to believe him insane. He was accordingly placed under the guardianship of Capt. Joshua Fuller, of Newton, but in the spring of 1753 he was released at his own request. He m. PATIENCE LOON, of Hopkinton.

16. NORMAN CLARK m. April 1749, HANNAH BIRD, of Dorchester. He was selectman of Newton, 1759, '60, '70, '71, and died Aug. 12, 1787.
