better than that counterpart of the Greek abode of feeble and nerveless shades. In respect to the sleep of the dead, the Jews, during and for centuries subsequent to their Babylonian captivity, received much enlightenment from Persian, Hindoo, and Egyptian sources. Long afterward we find Jesus confronting this antiquating doctrine with his teaching, for instance, in the story of Lazarus and Dives. Also he contradicted this doctrineone still true to the Sadducees-by the spectacle on the Mount of Transfiguration. Ecclesiastes had denied the existence of knowledge and wisdom in the grave, and yet the two with Jesus on the Mount possessed every faculty essential to memory and foreknowledge.

To establish himself firmly with Saul, the conjured spirit agreed with the king's belief in the death sleep; whereas, if that spirit had conveyed the correct idea of the posthumous condition, he would have been discredited at the outset. Those familiar with the ways of lying spirits, and their methods of winning confidence, will discover the earmarks of this class in the one we are criticising. Saul had been troubled with an evil spirit which David by his music had exorcised, since many of this kind loved discord more than harmony, even as they loved darkness better than light. Although cast out for the time being, this entity was not easily shaken off, and we go to the extent of saying that the one who had troubled

Saul was even he whom the witch of Endor produced in the guise of the holy prophet of God. The fact that the spirit foretold, with certain details, the end of the king and Jonathan, did not prove him to be Samuel. Evil spirits are often remarkably intelligent, as well as cunning. Therefore one capable of obsessing Saul, could forecast the future as though he were a far higher being.

THE LUNAR SEX PERVERTS

S stated in the chapter "Septenary Man," found in the volume "Special Teachings from the Arcane Science," death, passing, and return, are unknown upon that high trinity of planets, Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus. Upon Venus, the lowest of these, but whose evolution is on the higher mental plane, the mind bodies of its inhabitants-angels if compared with ushave been purified, though not from the sex element, since there it is non-existent. Certain infirmities of the mind, some of which never trouble beings of our mental organization, have been transmuted into the highest qualities of the Venusian humanity.

In the Saturn evolution, based on the lower mental plane, a first faint hint of sex appears, for which reason marked change of state is there experienced periodically. In the Martian world,

whose evolution is on the kamic plane, sex, at first just discernible, afterward became quite pronounced, consequently the race henceforth was no longer deathless; still the individual term of life was reckoned by centuries. As for propaga tion, it was accomplished through a means somewhat like the one self-imposed upon the human family long ago, and not to be outgrown for tens of thousands of years.

In the Lunar evolution, based on the astral, the sex element culminated, and the method of reproduction closely resembled that now obtaining here. Hence the term of individual life was shorter than that in Saturn. The ages of the antediluvian patriarchs recorded in the Hebrew Bible, are occultly related to those of the Moon humanity, for the book of Genesis is profoundly esoteric. Jehovah, the culmination of the Moon evolution, has been called the sex God; but the Lunar Fathers, our examples, transmuted the sex element into its high mental and spiritual equivalents. Therefore they are among the most positive beings in the whole system of planets.

The Lunar evolution produced diversities more marked than those of any other globe, our own not excepted. In regard to the sex function, this was especially so. The most cruel, cunning, and degraded beings in the worlds from Saturn down to Earth, are the sex perverts peculiar to the Moon period. Unfit for any other evolution,

they remain in the low astral of the dead physical planet, and are nourished by evil magnetisms engendered in the vilest regions of Earth's astral sphere.

That these creatures are in touch with the whole feline tribe, was known to the ancient Egyptians who, as an agricultural people quite dependent upon their products, could not well dispense with the domesticated cat, the protector of their granaries from the destructive work of mice and other rodents. Since the Lunar vampires are very susceptible to flattery, the superstitious among the Egyptians sought to please them by worshiping the cat, and embalming its dead body with every care bestowed upon those of human kind. This, that when the embalmer returned to vitalize and reoccupy his physical shell, the cat would occupy her's, and henceforth protect him from obsession as in former times.

In its sex relations, the cat, especially the female of the species, exhibits a certain peculiarity of the pervert, for, with the arousing of the sex nature, a desire to injure the other is manifested as the marks of tooth and claw amply prove, the male usually being the chief sufferer. On the other hand, every mother in the entire feline tribe is solicitous for her young, for, were she neglectful, the race would die out, and the artful Lunar vampires would be losers.

Evidently those sex sorcerers have lost much

of their ancient power, since no longer they obsess whole communities as in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, whose fate is a notable instance of Jehovah's attitude toward an evil originating in the globe over which he once ruled. The Old Testament denunciation of men and women who harbored familiar spirits, was probably against those who had fraternized with the Lunar perverts, or certain other sex sorcerers and moral degenerates proper to this planet.

In our own day, investigation of spiritual mediumship has shown that the "guides" here described, those proper to this planet, are by no means extinct. Having the cunning and patience peculiar to the cat when watching for or stalking its prey, these seek some penetrable point in the aura of the medium sitting for development, and also in that of the practicer of Hatha Yoga; hence all such should be on their guard. Jesus, himself, was taken into the wilderness, that is into the solitude of his individual self, to be tempted by evil spirits, and, chiefly as an example to others, he prepared himself for the ordeal by fasting forty days.
