8. CHARITY never faileth: But whether there be Prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be Tongues, they shall cease; whether there be Knowledge, it shall vanish away.

13. And now abideth FAITH, HOPE, and CHARITY, these three; but the greatest of these is CHARITY.

CHRIST'S Discourse to the Scribes and Pharifees, wherein he severely releverely proves them for their Pride, Hypocrisy, Covetoufness, and Oppression; and denounceth fevere Judgments against them.

CHRIST disputes with the Pharifees about the Traditions of the Elders, and represents the great Wickedness and Deceit that is in the Hearts of Men.

[Mr.] HEN came together unto [M.] Jesus, [Mr.] the Pharifees, and certain of the Scribes which came from Jerufalem. And when they faw fome of his Difciples eat Bread with defiled (that is to fay, with unwashen) Hands, they found fault. For the Pharifees, and all the Jews, except they wash their Hands oft, eat not; holding the Tradition of the Elders. And when they come from the Market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other Things there be, which they have received to hold; as the washing of Cups and Pots, brafen Veffels, and of Tables. Then the Pharifees and Scribes asked him, Why walk not thy Disciples according to the Tradition of the Elders, but eat Bread with unwashen Hands? (M.)
