Short title.

Power to transfer Kojonup Town Lots 19, 20, and 21.

No. 5 of 1923.

AN ACT to enable the Trustees of the Kojonup Agricultural and Horticultural Society to sell and transfer Kojonup Town Lots 19, 20, and 21.

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Kojonup Agricultural and Horticultural Society's Land Act, 1922.

2. It shall be lawful for the Trustees of the Kojonup Agricultural and Horticultural Society, as registered proprietors, under the Transfer of Land Act, 1893, of Kojonup Town Lots 19, 20, and 21, to sell and transfer such lots freed and discharged from any trust.

The proceeds of such sale shall be applied by the said Trustees to the improvement of Reserve ↑17376 vested in them.

INDUSTRIES ASSISTANCE.

AN ACT to amend and continue the operation of the
Industries Assistance Act, 1915.

[Assented to 22nd February, 1923.]

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Industries Assistance Act short title. Continuance Act, 1922, and shall be read as one with the Industries Assistance Act, 1915, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, and its amendments.

2. Section fifteen of the Industries Assistance Act Amend- Continuance of ment Act, 1917, as amended by the Industries Assistance Act principal Act. Continuance Act, 1921, is hereby further amended by omit

ting the figures "1923," and inserting the figures "1924" in place thereof.

ROADS CLOSURE.

Short title.

Closure of portion of certain roads.

AN ACT for the Closure of certain Roads.

[Assented to 22nd February, 1923.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by

and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Roads Closure Act, 1923.

2. Those portions of the streets or roads in the municipal districts of Albany, Narrogin, Wagin, and Bunbury respectively, set out in Parts I., II., III, and IV. of the Schedule to this Act, are hereby closed, and ail rights of way over the same shall cease from the passing of this Act.

THE SCHEDULE.

PART I.

That portion of Hare Street, in the Municipality of Albany, bounded on the Westward by a Northerly line from the West corner of Lot A22 to the SouthWest corner of Lot 414, and on the Eastward by a North-Westerly line from the North corner of Lot A22 to the North-East corner of Lot 414.

TART II.

That portion of Wiesse Street, in the Municipality of Narrogin, lying between the North-Western side of the Road from Williams to Narrogin and the South-Westerly production of the South-Eastern boundary of Narrogin

Lot 1268.

PART III.

That portion of Trench Street, in the Municipality of Wagin, lying between the Eastern side of Unicorn Street and the production North of the Western side of Tarbet Street.

PART IV.

A private street, in the Municipality of Bunbury, being a continuation of Cornwall Street, and part of Charles Street. Starting at a point on a North-Eastern boundary of the Perth to Bunbury Railway Reserve in prolongation North-Easterly of the NorthWestern boundary of Cornwall Street as dedicated and extending about 53° 35', about 151 9 links; thence about 153° 47′ about 86 3 links; thence about 273° 23', about 15.5 links; thence about 233° 35', about 136 9 links, and thence about 332° 46′, about 76 links, to the starting point.

That portion of Mary Street, in the Municipality of Bunbury, lying South-Westerly of a line bearing 305° 17′ minutes from a point on the South-Eastern side of said street situate 93-9 links North-Easterly from the intersection of said side of aforesaid street with the Northern side of Clarke Street.

AN ACT to amend the General Loan and Inscribed
Stock Act, 1910.

[Assented to 22nd February, 1923.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by

and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the General Loan and In- Short title. scribed Stock Act Amendment Act, 1922, and shall be read

as one with the General Loan and Inscribed Stock Act, 1910, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

2. Section eighteen of the principal Act is hereby Amendment of amended by inserting therein, in place of paragraph (a)

of the proviso, a paragraph, as follows:

(a) that the interest on such inscribed stock or debentures shall not exceed six per centum per annum; and

3. This Act shall continue in force until the 31st day of Duration. December, 1923, and no longer.

Section 4.

AN ACT to amend the Workers' Compensation Act, 1912.

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. (1.) This Act may be cited as the Workers' Compensation Act Amendment Act, 1923, and shall be read as one with the Workers' Compensation Act, 1912, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

(2.) This Act shall come into operation on a day to be fixed by proclamation.

2. Section four of the principal Act is amended by adding to the interpretation of the term "worker" the following words, namely: "The term 'worker,' save as aforesaid, also includes

"(a) any person to whose service any industrial award or agreement applies;

"(b) any person working, in connection with the felling, hewing, hauling, carriage, sawing, or milling of timber for another person who is engaged in the timber industry, for the purposes of such other person's trade or business under a contract for service, the remuneration of the person so working being in substance a return for manual labour bestowed by him upon the work in which he is engaged;
