Prayer for Holiness.

MOST holy, holy, holy Lord God of heaven and earth! though the heathen rage, and peo ple imagine vain things: thou continueft ftill the fame in holiness and glory; and, as thou haft called us with a holy calling, fo engaged us to be holy in all manner of conversation.

O renew us after thy bleffed image, and put thy Holy Spirit within us, but never take that bleffed Spirit from us. Stablish our hearts, O Lord, unblameable in holiness before thee, and make us holy in our difpofition, and in all our conversation fuch lovers and followers of holiness that we may fee the Lord, and find and enjoy our God, to the fatisfaction and comfort of our fouls, now in part as far as we can attain, and hereafter in fulness as much as we shall defire, and that for ever.

Give a check, Lord, from heaven to the spirit of prophaneness and uncleanness, impiety and blafphemy, that rages and reigns among us. Open the eyes and conquer the hearts of thy enemies, who hate and deride thy holiness, and madly go on in all prophanenefs, lewdnefs, and abomination, even to dare thy wrath and everlasting damnation.

O think thoughts of pity and mercy, Lord, to a finful people, whom thou haft fo long fpared and thy patience and abun

fignalized with that it may at last lead us to

repentance, and melt us into fuch a temper that we may relent and turn to the Lord, and leave off the wicked trade, and renounce the curfed things, and learn not to blafpheme and do defpite to the Spirit of grace.

Yea, fend fuch a fpirit of holiness upon us as may make us other manner of perfons, a people truly reformed as well as fo called; a people holy to the Lord, with eyes open to fee the beauty of holiness, and hearts bent to love and follow it; that, having our fruit unto holinefs, we may find the end everlasting life, through Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.
