In Chrift the promifes are Yea, In him they are Amen. 1 2. But where is Chrift himself, O where, With promises so fweet? A. Chrift's in the promises, and there 2. Is Chrift in them, and they in Chrift? How fhall I thus defcry? A. His blood and Spirit therein lift 2. 'Gainft legal fiery threats of wrath, A. Chrift's full obedience eye'd by faith: There fhould the guilty reft. 2. But how fhall faith be had? Alas! A. Chrift is the author of that grace; 2. Ah! when may faithlefs I expect A. He will of unbelief c nvict, 2. Repentance must attend, but whence A. Chrift is exalted as a prince 2. How can fo vile a lump of duft 4. Chrift by his holy Spirit muft This gradual change effect. 2. How fhall I do the works aright I'm daily bound unto! 4. Chrift in thee, by his Spirit's might Works both to will and do. 2 How fhall my maladies be heal'd, So fore molefting me? 4. Chrift is the great Phyfician feal'd, The Lord that bealeth thee, 2. By prayer I ought to feek his face; This courfe how fhall I drive? 4. 'Tis Chrift alone that has the grace And Sp'rit of pray'r to give. 2. Salvation-work is great and high; Alas! what fhall I do? 4. Chrift as the Alpha thereof eye, And the Omega too. 2. What pillar then is moft fecure To build my hope upon? 4. Chrift only the foundation fure, The living corner-ftone, 2. When I'm with black pollution stain’d, How fhall I cleanfed be? 4. Chrift is a fountain for that end Set open wide for thee. Q. What fhall I do, when plagues abound, With forrows, griefs, and fears? 4. Chrift has a balfam for thy wounds, A bottle for thy tears. But is there any help for one That utterly is loft! A. Chrift faves from fin, and he alone, But where fhall I be fafe at laft 4. Chrift is a refuge from the blaft 2. But mayn't ev'n nat'ral death to me Become a dreadful thing? 4. Chrift by his death, in love to thee, Did ev'ry death ynsting. 2. Why, Sir, is Chrift the whole you say? No answer elfe I find. 4. Because, were Chrift, our all, away, There's nothing left behind. Q. How can he answer ev'ry case, And help in every thrall? 4. Because he is the Lord of grace, Q. How is he present to fupply, 4. Yea, without Chrift we nothing have, Mayn't fome from hence take latitude If Chrift do all, then very good, Let us take carnal eafe. 4. Chrift will in flaming vengeance come, To damn his foes that dare prefume, SECT. IV. FAITH and WORKS both excluded from the Matter of Fuftification before God, that Redemption may appear to be only in CHRIST. WHO dare an holy God addrefs, With an unholy righteousness?
