With the New Year we again offer to our friends and to the public their old acquaintance and the companion of their forefathers, the "Old Farmer's Almanack." We trust it will long be a welcome visitor at the firesides of our New England homes. A Happy New Year to all!

The Courts, alphabetically arranged, take up a good deal of space, but they will be found in very convenient form for reference.

It is our aim to have everything accurate, but errors creep into most human work. If our friends find any in ours, they will confer a favor by informing the publishers. The Tide Table will be found on page 45. The P. O. Regulations on pages 46 and 47, and the other tables in their places, as in last year's Almanack.

ECLIPSES FOR 1877.

There will be five Eclipses this year, three of the SUN and two of the MOON. I. A TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE MOON, Feb. 27, invisible in the United States. II. A PARTIAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN, March 14, invisible in the United States; visible in North-western Asia.

III. A PARTIAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN, August 8, invisible in the United States, visible in Northern Asia.

IV. A TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE MOON, August 23, partly visible in the United States. At Boston, the Moon rises totally eclipsed. Total eclipse ends, 7h. 15m.; eclipse ends, 8h. 16m.

V. A PARTIAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN, Sept. 6, invisible in the United States; visible in the southern part of South America.

Mercury will be in the most favorable position to be seen in the evening after sunset, about January 10, May 3, August 30, and December 24; and to be seen in the morning before sunrise, about February 20, June 20, and October 11.

Venus will be Morning Star till May 6, then Evening Star the rest of the year. Mars will be Morning Star till Sept. 5, then Evening Star the rest of the year.
