With good care and clean work,
you ought to get from forty to
fifty tons of this root to the
acre. Isn't that as good as a
ton of poor hay on the same
land? Get the cows out to grass
early. After the long months
in the barn they want to be free.

We would not wait for the 20th,
as we used to, to turn cattle out
to grass. But do it with care.
Give them a few hours a day, at

first, just to let them nip the fresh,
new grass, and keep up the feed
in the barn. Make the change
slow, and it will be best for the
cows, and also for the pasture.
There is the garden, too. Plant,
and sow, and hoe, all the time
you can get.
