THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

" Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteous· ness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”—

Matt. vi. 33. The few verses which precede this commandment of our Saviour, given in His Sermon on the Mount, show us what things are meant, when it is said, “ These things shall be added unto you.” We read in the twenty-fifth verse, “ Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment ?” “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Your food and clothing, the simple necessaries of life, it is said, your heavenly Father will not fail to add unto you if you seek Him. Now, at first sight, it may appear as if God's righteousness had very little to do with your food and clothing. We are all too apt to
