THE LAW AND PRACTICE IN BANKRUPTCY, COMPRISING THE BANKRUPTCY ACT, 1883; THE DEBTORS ACTS, 1869, 1878, AND THE BILLS OF SALE ACTS, 1878 & 1882. THIRD EDITION BY ROLAND VAUGHAN WILLIAMS, Esq., OF LINCOLN'S INN, BARRISTER-AT-LAW, AND WALTER VAUGHAN WILLIAMS, Esq., OF THE INNER TEMPLE, BARRISTER-AT-LAW, ASSISTED BY EDWARD WILLIAM HANSELL, Esq., OF THE INNER TEMPLE, BARRISTER-AT-LAW. LONDON: STEVENS & SONS, 119, CHANCERY LANE; BODLEIAN LIBRARY 13 JUN 84 OXFORD LONDON: PRINTED BY C. F. ROWORTH, BREAM'S BUILDINGS, CHANCERY LANE. PREFACE TO THE THIRD EDITION. THE Authors, in submitting this Edition to the profession, wish to point out that the object of the Book is not to supply either an exhaustive Treatise on the Law of Bankruptcy, past and present, or merely a convenient index of the cases bearing on such law, but to supply a book which shall set forth so much of the authorities expounding the Law of Bankruptcy as shall afford both to the practitioners who have a library at hand, and to those who have not, materials for dealing with various cases as they arise. In view of this object, the Authors have quoted largely both judgments and marginal notes of judgments, and have attempted to found on these an exposition of the law relating to the subject-matter of each section of the Act. In the present Edition cases decided since the commencement of the Law Reports are cited in the text with only one reference. The references to other reports are printed after each case in the Index of Cases. With |
