That all power is given unto him, both in heaven and on earth, that thou hast set him over the works of thy hands, and hath put all things in fubjection under his feet, and fo haft crowned him with glory and honour.

That he is king of kings, and lord of lords, that the ancient of days hath given him dominion and glo. ry, and a kingdom, an everlasting dominion, and a kingdom which fhall not be destroyed.

That the government is upon his fhoulders, and that his name is called wonderful, counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace; and of the increase of his government and peace there fhall be no end.

That thou haft fet him as king upon thy holy hill of Zion, and that he fhall reign over the houfe of Jacob for ever, fhall reign until he has put down all oppofing rule, principality, and power, until all his enemies are made his footstool, and then he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father, that God may be all in all.

15. For the affurance that we have of his fecond coming to judge the world.

We blefs thee that thou haft appointed a day in which thou wilt judge the world in righteoufnefs, by that man whom thou haft ordained, whereof thou haft given affurance unto all men, in that thou hast raised him from the dead.

That in that day the Lord Jefus fhall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gofpel of our Lord Jefus Chrift: And fhall come to be glorified in his faints, and admired by all them that believe; for them that fleep in Jefus he will bring with him.

That he shall then fend forth his angels to gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity, and to gather together his elect from

the four winds, and then fhall the righteous fhine forth as the fun in the kingdom of their father.

And we then, according to thy promife, look for new heavens, and a new earth, wherein dwells righteoufnefs: Lord, grant that, feeing we expect fuch things, we may give diligence to be found of him in peace, without fpot, and blamelefs: And then come, Lord Jefus, come quickly.

16. For the fending of the holy fpirit to fupply the want of Chrift's bodily prefence, to carry on his undertaking, and to prepare things for his fecond coming.

We bless thee, that when our Lord Jefus went away, he fent us another comforter, to abide with us for ever, even the Spirit of Truth, who fhall glorify the Son, for he shall take of his, and shall fhew it unto us.

That being by the right hand of God, exalted, and having received of the Father the promife of the Holy Ghoft; he poured it forth as rivers of living

water.

Bleffed be God for the figns and wonders, and divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghoft, with which God bare witness to the great falvation.

And bleffed be God for the promise, that as earthly parents, though evil, know how to give good gifts to their children, fo their heavenly father will give the holy fpirit to them that afk him, that holy fpirit of promife, which is the earneft of our inheritance, until the redemption of the purchafed poffeffion.

17. For the covenant of grace made with us in Jefus Chrift, and all the exceeding great and precious privileges of that covenant, and for the feals of it.

We thank thee that in Jefus, Chrift thou haft made an everlasting covenant with us, even the fure mercies of David, and that though the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed, yet this covenant of thy peace thall never be removed.

I

That thou haft given unto us exceeding great and precious promifes, that by thefe we might be partakers of a divine nature: And that Jefus Chrift is the mediator of this better covenant, which is eftablished upon better promifes.

That though thou chaften our tranfgreffion with the rod, and our iniquity with ftripes, yet thy loving. kindness thou wilt not utterly take away, nor cause thy faithfulness to fail, thy covenant thou wilt not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of thy lips.

That being willing more abundantly to fhew to the heirs of promife the immutability of thy counsel, thou haft confirmed it by an oath, That by two im. mutable things, in which it was impoffible for God to lie, we might have ftrong confolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope fet before us.

That baptifm is appointed to be a feal of the righteousness, which is by faith, as circumcifion was That it affures us of the remiffion of fins, and the gift of the Holy Ghoft; and that this promife is to us, and our children. And that the cup in the Lord's fupper is the blood of the New Testament, which was thed for many, for the remiffion of fins.

18. For the writing of the fcriptures, and the preferving of them pure and entire to our day.

We thank thee that we have the fcriptures to fearch, and that in them we have eternal life, and that they teftify of Chrift, and that all fcripture is given by infpiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for inftruction in righteousness.

That whatsoever things were written aforetime, were written for our learning, that we, through patience and comfort of the fcripture, might have hope: And that we have this moft fure word of prophesy as a light thinning in a dark place.

That the vifion is not become to us as the words

of a book that is fealed, but that we hear in our own tongue the wonderful works of God.

We thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that the things which were hid from the wife and prudent, and which many prophets and kings. defired to fee, and might not, are revealed to us babes; even fo, father, for fo it feemed good in thy fight.

19. For the inftitution of ordinances, and particu larly that of the ministry,

We thank thee that thou haft not only fhew. ed thy word unto Jacob, but thy ftatutes and judgments unto Ifrael, unto us: Thou haft not dealt fo with other nations; and as for thy judgments, they have not known them.

That the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and that he hath fet his fanctu ary in the midst of them, for evermore, and there will meet the children of Ifrael.

We thank thee that thou haft made known unto us thy holy Sabbaths; and that fill there remains the keeping of a Sabbath to the people of God.

And that when the Lord Jefus afcended up on high, he gave gifts unto men, not only prophets, apostles, and evangelifts, but paftors and teachers, for the perfecting of the faints, for the work of the miniftry, for the edifying of the body of Chrift, until we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the ftature of the fulness of Chrift: And that, while they teach us to observe all things which Chrift hath commanded, he hath promifed to be with them always, even unto the end of the world.

20. For the planting of the Chriftian religion in the world, and the fetting up of the gofpel church, in defpite of all the oppofitions of the powers of

dark nefs.

We thank thee that the preaching of Jefus Chrift,

according to the commandment of the everlafting God, and the gofpel which was made known to all nations, for the obedience of faith, was mighty through God, to the pulling down of ftrong holds: That the Lord wrought with it, and confirmed the word, by figns following; fo that Satan fell as lightning from heaven.

That though the gofpel was preached in much con. tention, yet it grew and prevailed mightily, and multitudes turned to God from idols, to ferve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven. - Now came falvation and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: And the exalted Redeemer rode forth with his bow, and with his crown, conquering, and to conquer; and nations were born at once.

21. For the prefervation of Christianity in the world unto this day.

We bless thee, that though the enemies of Ifrael have afflicted them from their youth up, have many a time afflicted them, yet they have not prevailed against them, though the plowers have plowed on their back; yet the righteous Lord has cut afunder the cords of the wicked.

That Jefus Chrift hath built his church upon a rock, which the gates of hell cannot prevail againft, but his feed fhall endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

22. For the martyrs and confeffors, the lights of the church, and the good examples of thofe that are gone before us to heaven.

We bless thee for all those who have been enabled to approve themselves to God, in much patience, in afflictions, in neceffities, and in diftreffes, who, when they have been brought before governors and kings for Chrift's fake, it has turned to them for a teflimony, and God has given them a mouth and wifdom, which all their adverfaries were not able to gainfay or refift.
