Friday evening, February 21. "Color and Color Photography." Illustrated with lantein slides. By Karl Eugen Guthe, Professor of Physics, and Dean of the Graduate Department of the University of Michigan.

On Thursday and Friday, January 30 and 31, the mid-winter meeting of the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Society will be held in Grand Rapids. The following sessions will be in the Lecture Room of the Library: Thursday afternoon, Thursday evening, and Friday afternoon. Among the papers and addresses expected at this meeting are the following: "The Old Log House," by Mrs. Mary M. Hoyt, Kalamazoo; "The Old Northwest," by the Hon. E. O. Wood, Flint; "Political Cartoons and Their Effect on History,” illustrated, by Prof. C. H. Van Tyne, Ann Arbor; "The Necessity for Local Historical Society in Every Community," by W. L. Jenks. On Friday night Governor Ferris and Lieutenant Governor Ross are expected to be present, and after the meeting it is planned to have a general reception tendered to the guests of honor and the members of the Society on the part of the citizens. This reception will be held in the St. Cecilia building. The public generally is invited to all these meetings.

Friday evening, February 14, under the auspices of the Grand Rapids Nature-Study Society, Prof. Wm. E. Praeger, of Kalamazoo College, will speak in the Lecture Room on "Home and School Gardens," using slides.

PERIODICALS FOR 1913

On page 6 begins a list of periodicals taken by the Library for 1913 arranged according to the several rooms and branches in which they are filed. There are also separate lists of those in each language. This bulletin should be preserved for use during the year. In the Reference Room and in the Newspaper Room there is a typewritten list of the periodicals taken arranged by classes, so that anyone can tell at a glance what periodicals the Library takes on any particular subject.

The following are some of the subjects represented in the Library's periodical list, the number following each being the number of periodicals on file dealing with that subject.
