EXHIBIT 13124 [Copied from the files of the State Dept. of Immigration and Housing, December 20, 1939, FLW/bsc] Messrs. MERRITT AND OCHELTREE, Madera, California. OCTOBER 27, 1939. GENTLEMEN: On October 26 Mr. Clabangh of this Division inspected your cotton camp in the Ripordan District of Madera County. This inspection developed that your camp fails to meet the requirements of the Labor Code (1937 Statutes, Chapter 90, page 185) in the following particulars: 1. A responsible person must be placed in charge of camp who will be responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation. 2. Provide suitable and adequate bathing facilities. 3. Move the two-hole toilet to a new location. Repair seat of middle one. Clean toilets daily and treat with a strong deodorant. 4. Provide a self-closing lid for garbage pit. 5. The two-room cabin on end and the one-room green cabin are not fit for human habitation and should be demolished. 6. Clean up all cans and other refuse and maintain grounds and buildings in a sanitary condition at all times. Please notify us when the above improvements have been made.
