1. Lord's Prayer.

UR Father which art in heaven: hallowed

be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trefpaffes, as we forgive them that trespass against us and lead us (a) not into temptation, but deliver us from Evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory; for ever and ever. Amen.

2. A Morning Prayer.

O Lord, father of heaven, moft merciful and everlasting God, who hast safely brought me to the beginning of this day, defend me in the fame by thy almighty power; and grant that I fall not into any fin, neither run into any kind of danger; but let all my doings be ordered by thy governance, that I may always do fuch things as are acceptable in thy fight, through Jesus Christ, my bleffed Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

(a) Or fuffer us not to fall.

Lord God Almighty, I humbly thank thee for

thy care of me in the night past. Give me thy grace, and continue thy mercy and compaffion to me. Keep me this day from all harm, and help my endevors to behave myself humbly, foberly, and godly, that I may always please thee in thought, word, and deed.

O merciful Father, I beseech thee give me an awful reverence of thy majefty, that I may tremble and be afraid of offending thee, and a steady resolution to guard myself from all furprize, that I may enjoy a good confcience, and never fall into that dreadful and everlasting punishment which wait on impenitent finners. This I beg, O Lord, in the name of my bleffed Saviour and Redeemer, Jefus Chrift. Amen.

Merciful God, the almighty protector of mankind, who haft preserved my life from day to day, I beseech thee to accept my prayer: I am going into a world furrounded by fnares, and beset with temptations: let my remembrance of the repeated mercies which thou haft already fhewn to me, and the hopes of thy future favor, arm me with vigilance

and

and care. Guard me from all evil, and keep the door of my lips, that I may fpeak truth from my heart, and never offend againft any one of thy righteous laws. This I beg, O merciful Father, for the fake of thy dear Son Jefus Chrift, my blessed Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

5. For the Evening.

LIghten my darkness, I beseech thee, O Lord, and by thy great mercy forgive the fins I have committed against thee this day. Defend me, O God, against all the dangers of the night, and in thy good time bring me to thine everlasting rest, for Jefus Chrift his fake. Amen.

6. For the fame.

O God, my Almighty Creator and preferver, ac

cept my humbleft thanks for thy protection, and all the bleffings which I receive at thy hand. Forgive the fins which I have committed against thee this day, and make me, hereafter, afraid and afhamed to do any thing that is wrong. Let me conftantly remember that thou art prefent every where, both day and night, and that all my thoughs, words, and actions, are open to thy view.

I now lie down to reft, O merciful and tender Father, in humble confidence that thy goodness will keep me in fafety; that I may arise refreshed with fleep, in health and strength, of body and mind, and fit to perform my duty: and when this present life is ended in death, O Lord, receive my foul into that happy state which thou haft prepared for those who serve thee.

This I beg through Jefus Chrift my Redeemer, who died upon the crofs, that through my obedience to his laws, I may be redeemed from all my fins, and inherit everlasting life. Amen.

7. For the fame.

Lord God Almighty, who by thy provident care haft mercifully conducted me in safety to the conclufion of this day; forgive the offences which I have been guilty of against thee, whether in thought, or word, or by any action unworthy my character as a chriftian. Let this return of the hour of fleep remind me of the shortness of life, and teach me what it is to die!-Thus kneeling in thy awful presence, I offer up the facrifice of my heart: accept it, O Lord, as my evening oblation, and hearken unto my unfeigned prayer! Banish from me all evil defires, that my own will may not confpire to my
