The Mathematical Lecture was founded at a very early period by the University, and the other three were endowed in 1524, by Sir Robert Rede, Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas in the reign of King Henry VIII. — The Mathematical Lecturer is paid by the Vice-Chancellor £4.; the other three by the Bursar of Jesus college, £3.
