RETURN OF ALL WRITS.

By stat. 1 Wm. IV., c. 3, s. 2. the Return days for all Writs usually made returnable on General Return days may be made returnable on the third day exclusive before the commencement of each term, or on any day, not being Sunday, between that day and the third day exclusive before the last day of the Term. And by the act 3 and 4 Wm. IV., c. 67. s. 2, all Writs of Execution may be tested on the day they are issued, and be made returnable immediately after the execution thereof.* Subpas. teste, if issued in Term, should be tested on first day of Term; if issued in Vacation, should be tested on the last day of the preceding Term. (Common Pleas decision in Michaelmas Term, 1844, in a cause, Edgell v. Curling.")

CHANCERY OFFICES.-Good Friday; Monday and Tuesday in Easter week, 10th and 11th April; Christmas Day; in addition to the usual Vacations at Easter and Whitsuntide. Long Vacation 10th August to 28th October; and Christmas, 24th December to 6th January.

COMMON LAW OFFICES (see Rules of all the Courts of Hilary Term, 6th Wm. IV. 1836).-Good Friday, April 7; Easter Eve, April 8; Easter Monday, April 10; Easter Tuesday, April 11; Christmas Day and the three following days; and the following if they do not fall in term, viz.: the Queen's Birthday; the Queen's Accession, June 20; Whit Monday and Whit Tuesday, May 29 and 30.

CUSTOM HOUSE AND INLAND REVENUE OFFICES.-Good Friday, April 7; Queen's Birthday; Coronation, June 28; Birthday of H.R.H. Prince of Wales, Nov. 9: Christmas Day ;-which days are also ordered to be kept as holidays by the officers and servants of the Dock Companies of the United Kingdom. Registration.-Births.

Persons should cause their children to be registered within forty-two days after birth, by giving personal notice to the registrar of their district.

Deaths. Intimation should be given of deaths in the same manner as births. This should be done as early as possible, as the undertaker has to give a certificate to the minister who reads the funeral service. If the body is buried without a certificate, the minister is bound to give notice to the registrar within of £10. seven days, under a penalty

The Monthly List of Fairs is only a selection of the more important ones. When they fall on Sunday, the date of next day is given. A few of the German Fairs which are of commercial interest are given, each of which continues for three weeks.
