pairing; also such so far behind the age as to be unprofitable to use. While the farmer should not waste his money buying every new-fangled machine that comes along, he should endeavor to buy such implements as have been and proved to be labor-saving, which at the same time will do the work

A workshop should be on every farm of ten or more acres; and

the farmer should not only learn

to use the tools to make all the

simple repairs on farm machines, but should, during the winter, teach his boys the use of tools, giving them frequent opportunities to work in the shop, to make

traps, sleds, bird-houses, and such

other things as their imagination

may suggest. Thus the boys can be kept busy, made happy, and at the same time learn the use of a variety of tools. Now is the time to prepare the wood for next winter.
