26.

REJOICE with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep..

Rom. xii. 15.

I ask Thee for a thoughtful love,
Through constant watching wise,
To meet the glad with joyful smiles,
And wipe the weeping eyes;
And a heart at leisure from itself,
To soothe and sympathize.

27.

CAUSE me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto Ps. cxliii. 8.

Thee.

Through flowery meads, through verdant glades,
By waters still and clear;

Or through dark vales and dismal shades,
Mid landscapes bleak and drear:

Such may the hidden pathway be,
That leads, my Saviour, up to Thee!

28.

WHATSOEVER ye do, do it heartily,

as to the Lord, and not unto men.

Col. iii. 23.

And when morn awakes, renewing
The busy day,

May we still, in all we're doing,
Thy will obey.

May Thy love protect and guide us,
May we feel-whate'er betide us,
Joy or sorrow-Thou'rt beside us
The livelong day.

29.

LET every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

1 Cor. vii. 24.

Thou cam'st not to thy place by accident,

It is the very place God meant for thee;

And should'st thou there small scope for action sce, Do not for this give room to discontent.

30.

AND now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1 Cor. xiii. 13.

Hope, Faith, and Love, at God's high altar shine, Lamp triple-branch'd, and fed with oil divine. Two of these triple lights shall once grow pale, They burn without, but Love within the veil.

31.

BE careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil. iv. 6, 7.

Take anxious care for nought,

To God your wants make known,
And soar, on wings of heavenly thought,
Toward His eternal throne.

So, though our path is steep,

And many a tempest lowers,

Shall His own peace our spirits keep,
And Christ's dear love be ours.

HIM that cometh to Me I will in no

wise cast out.

St. John vi. 37.

Just as I am, without one plea,

But that Thy Blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come!

2.

IN every thing give thanks.

1 Thess. v. 18.

A thousand blessings, Lord, Thou dost impart :
We ask one blessing more,-a thankful heart.

us.

3.

AND to you who are troubled rest with

2 Thess. i. 7.

I hear a voice at dawn of day,

And to my heart it seems to say,
When sorrow dims hope's brightest ray,
"There's rest in Heaven.'

4.

PUT on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph. vi. 11.

Let your drooping hearts be glad;
March, in heavenly armour clad;
Fight, nor think the battle long;
Soon shall victory tune your song,

5.

TAKE therefore no thought for the morrow for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

St. Matt. vi. 34.

Does each day upon its wing
Its appointed burden bring?
Load it not besides with sorrow,
That belongeth to the morrow.
When by God the heart is riven,
Strength is promised, strength is given ;
But foredate the day of woe,

And alone thou bear'st the blow
