And they suggest the adoption of the following:

CANON XIII.

OF THE REGISTRAR.

SEC. 1. At the annual meeting of the Convention a Registrar of the Diocese shall be elected; whose duty it shall be to collect, in as detailed a manner, and as far as practicable, and to record in a proper book to be provided for that purpose, an account of the origin and progress of each Parish which has been organized within the Diocese.

SEC. 2. He shall, also, collect and preserve all the published journals, convention sermons, and other printed documents connected with the history and progress of the Diocese. (Signed) L. W. RUSS,

On motion of Mr. Birdsall, this report was made the order of the day for to-morrow morning.

The Rev. Dr. Fitch, desiring to give his views upon matters involved in this report, and the chairman deciding it out of order, by unanimous consent was permitted to proceed.

On motion the Rev. Mr. Martin was nominated Trustee of the General Theological Seminary.

On motion the Convention adjourned to meet to-morrow morning at nine o'clock.

INDIANAPOLIS, THURSDAY, JUNE 2D, 1864.

The Convention met pursuant to adjournment, the Bishop in the chair.

Morning Prayer was read by the Rev. Messrs. Runcie and

Turner.

The minutes were read and approved. After which the Bishop proceeded to deliver his annual address.

The Report of the Committee on Canons, being the special order of the day, was taken up and discussed.

Judge Morrison moved that the proposed Canon 2, Section 1, be amended by inserting after the words "designated" the words and "defining the boundaries of such Parish."

On motion it was resolved to postpone the consideration of this section for the present.

The Treasurer, by unanimous consent, then read his report, which was referred to the Committee on accounts.

Section 1 of proposed Canon 3 was then taken up. On motion of the Rev. Mr. Large it was amended by adding the words "between the hours of 10 and 12 o'clock A. M. on said day" after the words "nevertheless assemble." thus amended, Section 1 was adopted.

On motion it was resolved that the word "Clerk" be substituted for the word "Secretary" wherever it occurs in the proposed Canon.

Section 3 was amended by the insertion of the words, "a clerk and," after "shall appoint;" and as thus amended it was adopted.

Section 4, as follows, was adopted in place of Section 4, of the proposed Canon:

The persons appointed to take, count, and make a full list of the votes given, shall, within ten days after such election, file, with the County Recorder, the certificate of such election, required by the law of the State. The whole Canon

as amended was adopted.

On motion of the Rev. Mr. Martin it was Resolved, that so much of the Bishop's Address as regards the education. of youth be referred to a Committee of three to report to the next Convention.

The Rev. Thomas Mills Martin, Hon. Ballard Smith and Samuel S. Early were appointed such Committee.

The Convention then adjourned to 3 o'clock this after

noon.

On motion of the Rev. Mr. Martin the Rev. Mr. Wakefield took the chair.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

On motion of Judge Smith it was Resolved, that the word “Clerk” be substituted for the word "Secretary" wherever it occurs in the Canons.

The Standing Committee then presented their annual

Report.

INDIANAPOLIS, JUNE 1st, 1864.

The Standing Committee respectfully report their action for the past Conventional year, as follows:

INDIANAPOLIS, JUNE 23rd, 1863.

The Committee met at the Bishops residence, at his call.

Richard L. Talbot having declined to accept the office of Treasurer of the Diocese to which he was elected by the Convention of 1863, held at Terre Haute : Dr. John S. Irwin, of Fort Wayne, was unanimously elected to fill the vacancy. The testimonials of the Rev. Samuel Edson applying for Priests Orders were presented to the Committee; and, after being examined and approved, the proper recommendation was signed by the members of the Committee present.

INDIANAPOLIS, SEPTEMBER 7th, 1863.

The committee met at the call of the Bishop, at his residence.

The testimonials of Rev. Abner P. Brush applying for Priest's Orders were presented, and after being examined and approved, the required recommendation was signed by the members of the Committee present.

INDIANAPOLIS, JANUARY 28th, 1864.

The Committee met at the residence of the Bishop, at his request, to consider the case of William Jahn, applying to be ordained in accordance with the provisions contained in Section 10, Canon II, Title I, of the Digest, when on motion, it was unanimously resolved that the Standing Committee consent to the ordination of William Jahn according to the aforementioned Canonical enactment.

INDIANAPOLIS, APRIL 20th, 1863.

The Committee met at the residence of the Bishop. The application of William Turner, desiring to be admitted to the Holy Order of Deacons, was received.

His papers were examined, approved, and the Canonical testimonials were signed. The papers of Abraham Reeves, late a minister of the Methodist Denomination, applying to be admitted a candidate for Holy Orders, were received, examined and approved, and the Canonical certificate to the Bishop was signed. The Committee on Credentials reported Samuel F. Wetmore, Lay Delegate, from St. Luke's Church, Indianapolis, as entitled to a seat in this Convention.

Mr. Wetmore answered to his name upon the call of the Secretary.

The Committee on Accounts presented the following

Report.

The Committee on Accounts respectfully report, that they have examined the Treasurer's accounts, with the vouchers for the same, and find them in all respects correct.

Resolved, That the thanks of the Convention be tendered to Dr. J. S. Irwin for the able manner in which he has discharged his duties as Treasurer, and that balloting be dispensed with, and he be re-elected to that office.

On motion of Judge Smith it was

Resolved, That a Committee of three be appointed to obtain from the General Assembly an act of incorporation, authorizing the organization of a society within this church for the advancement of Christianity.

Hon. James Morrison, Ballard Smith and John Love were appointed such Committee.

On motion it was

Resolved, That the rules be suspended and that the Convention go into the election of the Standing Committee.

Section 1 of proposed Canon X was taken up and adopted, with the substitution of the "third Sunday" instead of the "second Sunday," in the months of January, April, July and October.
