TERRE HAUTE, Wednesday, June 3d, 1863.

This being the time and place appointed for the meeting of the Twenty-sixth Annual Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Indiana, the Bishop and a number of Clergy and Lay delegates assembled in St. Stephen's Church at half-past ten o'clock A. M.

Morning Prayer was read by the Rev. Richard S. Ganter, Rector of Trinity Church, Michigan City, and the Rev. Samuel Edson, Minister at Crawfordsville and Delphi.

The Convention Sermon was preached by the Rev. James Runcie, Rector of Christ Church, Madison, from the 122d Psalm, 7th, 8th and 9th verses. The Holy Communion was administered by the Bishop, assisted in the distribution of the elements by the Rev. Chauncy W. Fitch, D. D., Rector of St. Stephen's Church, Terre Haute, and the Rev. Colley A. Foster, LL. D., Rector of St. James' Church, Goshen.

At the close of these services the Convention was called to order by the Bishop and the names of the clergy and lay delegates being read by the Secretary, the following answered to their names, viz:

The Bishop then announced the following Standing Committees:

On Credentials-The Rev. Messrs. Thompson and Githens and Mr. Philander Burr.

On Accounts-Rev. Mr. Russ and Messrs. Howe and Irwin.

On Canons-Rev. Dr. Foster and Messrs. Johnson and Payne.

On Admission of New Parishes-Rev. Messrs. Battin and Githens and Mr. Yundt.

On Unfinished Business-Rev. Messrs. Holcomb and Bishop and Mr. Early. On motion of Mr. Payne balloting was dispensed with and the Rev. Elias Birdsall was chosen Secretary.

On motion of the Rev. Mr. Runcie it was

Resolved, That Clergymen not entitled to seats in this Convention be invited to attend its sittings.

Whereupon the Rev. W. G. Spencer, of the Diocese of Missouri, took his seat.

On motion the Convention adjourned to 3 o'clock P. M.

AFTERNOON SESSION.

WEDNESDAY, 3 o'clock P. M.

The Convention met pursuant to adjournment, the Rev. C. A. Foster, LL. D., by request of the Bishop, presiding.

The minutes of the previous session were read and approved. Present the same as the first session with the addition of the Rev. Mr. Rowe, Rector of Trinity Church, Vanderburgh County, and Messrs. Soames and Dawes, lay delegates from St. James' Church, Vincennes.

The Committee on Credentials presented the following

REPORT.

The Committee on Credentials to whom were referred the certificates of Lay Delegates, having examined the same, report the following as entitled to seats in this Convention, being delegates from the parishes named, viz: Christ Church, Indianapolis-John Love, George Herbert, Charles Cox. St. James, Vincennes-Charles Dawes, Joseph Soames.

On motion of the Rev. James Runcie the Convention proceeded to the election of Treasurer, and balloting being dispensed with, Mr. R. S. Talbot was chosen.*

On motion of Mr. Payne the Convention then proceeded to the election of the Standing Committee, the President appointing the Rev. Mr. Runcie and Dr. Laird tellers. The election resulted in the selection of the Rev. Messrs. Runcie, Wakefield and Holcomb of the clergy, and Messrs. Mears, McChesney and Love of the laity.

On motion of Mr. Yundt it was

Resolved, That a select committee be appointed to report a canon defining the duties of Wardens and Vestrymen.

The President appointed the Rev. Mr. Battin and Messrs. Yundt and Payne such committee.

On motion of Mr. Love Mr. Charles B. Cox was appointed temporary Treasurer.

The Committee on Unfinished Business presented the following

REPORT.

The Committee on Unfinished Business respectfully report the resolution offered by J. S. Irwin, M. D., and passed on Wednesday, June 4, 1862, viz:

Resolved, That a committee of two clergymen and two laymen be appointed by the Chair to whom shall be referred the entire revision of the Constitution, By-Laws and Canons, which committee shall report at the next Convention.

The committee appointed by the Chair were the Rev. Messrs. Russ and Runcie and the Hon. G. A. Bicknell and Geo. Gardner.
