EORGE, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, &c. To all to whom thefe Prefents fhall come, Greeting. Whereas our Trufty and Well-beloved John Barber, Printer, and Alderman of our City of London, has humbly reprefented unto us, that he is now printing the Works of his Grace JoHN SHEFFIELD Duke of Buckinghamshire, in Verfe and Profe; and whereas the faid John Barber has informed us, that he has been at great Expence in carrying on the faid Work, and that the fole Right and Title of the Copy of the faid Work is vested in the faid John Barber; he has therefore humbly befought us to grant him our Royal Privilege and Licenfe for the fole Printing and Publishing thereof, for the Term of fourteen Years. We being willing to give all due Encouragement to fo useful a Work, are gracioufly pleafed to condefcend to his Requeft, and do therefore hereby, fo far as may be agreeable to the Statute in that behalf made and provided, grant unto the faid John Barber our Royal License and Privilege for the fole Printing and Publishing the faid Works of the faid Duke of Buckinghamshire, for and during the Term of fourteen Years, to be computed from the Day of the Date hereof, ftrictly charging and prohibiting all our Subjects within our Kingdoms and Dominions to reprint or abridge the fame, either in the Like, or in any other Volume or Volumes whatsoever, or to import, buy, vend, utter, or diftribute any Copies of the fame, or any Part thereof reprinted beyond the Seas, during the faid Term of fourteen Years, without the Confent and Approbation of the faid John Barber, his Heirs, Executors, and Affigns, under his or their Hands and Seals firft had and obtained, as they and every of them offending herein, will anfwer the contrary at their Perils: Whereof the Mafter, Wardens, and Company of Stationers of our City of London, Commiffioners, and other Officers of our Customs, and all other' our Officers and Minifters, whom it may concern, are to take notice, that due Obedience be given to our Pleasure herein fignified. Given at our Court at St. James's the 18th Day of April 1722, in the Eighth Year of our Reign. By his Majefty's Command, CARTERET.
