It was the original design of the Author of this volume to have sent forth into the world a little book containing a few thoughts with respect to each of the subjects which are to be found in the following pages. Hence the first subject treated upon, viz., TRUST, although of equal importance with the rest, is not considered at such length; the style of its treatment also differs somewhat from that of the others. Almost unconsciously to the writer, the little book began to grow and develope into a large one; and all that he can now do, is, to hope that its increased size may make it of increased worth. |
