INTRODUCTION.

THE Author makes no pretensions in the following pages. They have been got together from research and hard study from the Celtic remains where they had been located, and he leaves it to the reader to say whether he has made it plain that neither the Celts nor the Druids practised idolatory, and whether they were the descendants of pious parents who taught them the religion of the Patriarchs that we have in our Bibles.

It must be remembered that they were not Christians until Paul converted them from the use of the symbols of the promised Saviour to the reality of the come Christ, as promised in the Scriptures (Gal. iv., 4).

It will be seen that the writer's great aim has been to keep their religion to the front, and it is hoped that good results will follow.

The history of the Celts and Druids.

[ocr errors]

CHAPTER I.

[graphic]

OD is the Author of all mankind, and the Celtae along with other nations had a Bible history. The life root of Celtic antiquarian research is Godliness having no prehistoric revelation. The spiritual must be used with the senses, till then men may look upon the wonders of antiquarianism, and like Jacob in Bethel "Behold God was in this place, and I knew it not."

say,

Therefore when men of any standing look upon the relics of the Celtae, and pronounce them idolatrous and uncivilised, they reject what we believe to be the symbolic object of their religious worship which has been handed down to us Gentiles to strengthen our faith in the come Christ of our Christianity.

First: And God said let us make man in our image after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said behold I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be for meat. (Gen. i., 26-29.)
