CONSTITUTION

OF THE

MISSISSIPPI VALLEY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ARTICLE I. The organization shall be known as the Mississippi Valley Horticultural Society. Its object shall be the promotion of horticulture.

ARTICLE II. Any person may become a member upon the payment of two dollars, and membership shall continue upon the payment of two dollars annually. ARTICLE III. Its officers shall consist of a President, First Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, who shall be elected by ballot at each regular meeting; and one Vice President from each State, who may be elected to this position by the several State horticultural societies. Should there be no Vice President elected from any State, the vacancy may be filled by the executive committee of this society. The term of office of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, shall begin on the first day of January following their election. No person can act as an officer of this Society who does not maintain his membership by the payment of the annual membership fees.

ARTICLE IV. The regular meetings of this Society shall be held annually on the first Tuesday of September, except when otherwise ordered by the executive committee, and continue for such time as the committee shall determine.

ARTICLE V. The officers of the Society shall constitute an executive committee, at any meeting of which a majority of the members present shall have power to transact business.

ARTICLE VI. Special meetings of the Society may be called by the executive committee, and meetings of the committee may be called by the President and Secretary.

ARTICLE VII. This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any regular meeting.
