ITisan admirable saying of a wise Roman", who nevertheless was an entire stranger to “The Book," " The Book of Books,” “ The precious, precious Book of God,"

a Horace, the brightest genius in the court of Augustus.

0 « The Book” is the genuine English of the word, Bible, which is of Greek derivation, and exclusively applied to the Holy Scriptures.

c Usher, the learned and venerable Bishop of Armagh, constantly distinguished the Holy Scriptures by this appropriate character.

These words formed a part of the last address of a dying martyr. When he had arrived at the stake, and adjusted every thing preparatory to his execution, he took his final leave of all terrestrial objects in this empassioned language. “ Farewell Sun and Moon! Farewell all the beauties of Creation, and comforts of life! Farewell my honoured
