(11) The order of creation, then, being revealed to Moses in the way of Vision' the Seer, when first "falling into a trance,

by the two, and terminated by

which we are furnished with no measure of,—was the first day— the period of the first ‘ Vision.'

(12) We proceed to the sixth

and subsequent verses.

6. And God said, let there be

रालकाल उत्तर प्रातःका

लीनदीत्यागमान्तो ऽस्मा भिरविज्ञातपरिमाणः प्रथ मो दिन इत्युच्यते प्रथमदनिकाल इति तदर्थः ।

। १२ । अथ पद्याद्या ऋच आह ।

अपिचेश्वर उवाच जला

an expanse in the midst of the नां मध्ये वितानकं जायतां waters, and let it be dividing be

tween the waters in respect to the तच्च जलेभ्यो जलानि पृथ

waters.

करोतु ॥ ६ ॥

7. And God made the ex- अपिचेश्वरो वितानकमु

panse, and divided between the waters which were under the expanse and between the waters which were above the expanse and it was so.

8. And God called the expanse the heavens. And it was evening and it was morning, the second day.

त्यादयामास वितान कोपरिष्ठजलानिच वितानकाधःस्थजलेभ्यो व्यभजतैवञ्च

बभूव ॥ ७ ॥

and which renders possible the वितानकं भगालावर णभूत वायुमंडलात्मकमिति स्फुटं

dividing of "the waters on the earth from the waters in the

clouds, which are well known to प्रतायते तेनैवहि मेघात्मbe supported by the buoyant at- नोपरिस्थितानां वायुमंड

mosphere. The division here

as a designation of the Atmosphere.

(2) We proceed to the ninth and subsequent verses.

9. And God said, let the waters under the heavens gather themselves together unto one

किन्तु व्यवस्थाविशेषात्मक इति ॥ दिवमित्यभिदधाविति । प्रथमर्चिभूगोलव्यतिरिक्ते सर्वस्मिन्नर्थे प्रयुतो दिवशब्दोऽच वायुमण्डलरूपे ऽर्थे प्रयुज्यते ।

। २ । अथ नवमाद्या ऋच आह ।

अपिचेश्वर उवाच आकाशादधःस्थानि जलानि

11. And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, herb seeding seed, fruit-tree yielding fruit, after its kind, whose seed is in it upon the earth : and it was so.

12. And the earth brought forth grass, herb yielding seed after its kind, and fruit-tree yielding

लसमुच्चयंच समुद्रमित्यभिदधौ । तच्चोत्तममित्यमन्यत ॥ १० ॥

अपिचेश्वर उवाच भूमिस्तृणानि तथा बोजानि बीजयन्तीरोषधीस्तथा स्वजातिमनु बीजगर्भफलदानशीलान् फलिनान् वृक्षांच स्वतां भुवि तञ्च तथा बभूव । ११ ।

अपि च पृथ्वी तृणानि

तथा स्वजातिमनु बीजप्रदा

fruit, whose seed in it after its ओषधीस्तथा स्वजातिमनु kind and God saw that it was बीजगर्भफलप्रदान वृक्षां

good.

13. And the evening and the

morning were the third day.
