14 For he knoweth well our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 The days of man are as grass; he flourisheth, as a flower of the field;

16 Over which the wind no sooner passeth, than it is gone; and the place where grew owneth it no more.

17 But the merciful goodness of JEHOVAH endureth for ever and ever upon those who fear him; and his righteousness upon children's children;

18 Even upon such as keep his covenant; and remember his commandments to practise them.

19 JEHOVAH hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Praise ye JEHOVAH! O ye his angels! ye who excel in strength! ye who fulfil his commandment, and hearken unto the voice of his words!

21 Praise ye JEHOVAH! O all ye his attendants his servants who execute his pleasure!

22 Praise ye JEHOVAH! O all his works in all places of his dominion! o my soul, praise ye JEHOVAH !

Then shall be read a lesson taken out of the New
Testament; after which, the following psalm.

Psalm XIX.

THE heavens declare the glory of GOD, and the firmament proclaimeth the works of his hands.

2 Day after day poureth out instruction; and night after night conveyeth knowledge. 3 They [the heavens] have neither speech nor language; their voice is not heard :

4 Yet their sound goeth forth through all lands; and their words unto the end of the world.

5 In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, who cometh forth, like a bridegroom, out of his chamber; and rejoiceth, like a strong man, to run his course :

6 He cometh forth from the uttermost part of the heavens, his circuit is unto the end of them; so that nothing is hidden. from his heat.

7 Thus the law of JEHOVAH is perfect, recreating the soul of man; the testimony of JEHOVAH is true, teaching wisdom unto the simple.

8 The statutes of JEHOVAH are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandments of JEHOVAH are clear, giving light to the mind :

9 The worship of JEHOVAH is pure, endaring for ever: the judgments of JEHOVAH are sure, and altogether righteous:

10 They are more desirable than gold, yea, than the finest gold; sweeter also than honey and the honey-comb.

11 By them thy servant is instructed; and in keeping of them great is the reward. 12 Who can tell how often he offendeth? oh! preserve thou me clear of secret faults!

13 Preserve thy servant also from presumptuous sins: let them not have dominion over me; then shall I be guiltless, and free from transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O JEHOVAH ! my rock and my deliverer! Amen.

Minister.

Let us pray.

OUR FATHER! who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us, day by day, our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

ALMIGHTY GOD! unto whom all hearts are open, all desires are known, and from whom no secrets are hidden; purify the thoughts of our hearts, that we may truly love thee, and worthily praise thy holy name, now and for ever. Amen.

General thanksgiving.

ALMIGHTY GOD! father of all mercies! we, thy servants, do give thee most humble

and

and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all men ; (particularly to thofe, who desire now to offer up their praises and thanks for thy late mercies vouchsafed unto them.) We thank thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but, above all, for thine inestimable love in pointing out to us the means of obtaining thy favour and everlasting happiness, by the gospel of our lord Jesus Christ. And, we beseech thee, give us that just sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may praise thee, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by devoting ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Concluding prayer.

ALMIGHTY GOD! who hast disposed us, at this time, with one accord to make our common supplications; and hast especially encouraged us, by our lord Jesus Christ, to make known our humble requests unto thee; fulfil now, o thou the giver of every good! E 3
