9 "I would hasten away to a shelter from the sweeping storm and the devouring whirlwind."

10 Confound, O JEHOVAH! confound their counsels; for I know that, in the city, are violence and strife:

11 These go round on her walls, day and night; iniquity and mischief are in the midst of her :

12 All sorts of depravity are in the midst of her; fraud and deceit depart not from her streets.

13 It was not an open enemy, who reviled me, for that I could have borne nor one owing me hatred, who rose up against me, from him I could have hidden myself:

14 But it was thou, a man whom I csteemed! my conductor, and my familiar friend!:

15 We sweetly consulted together in private converse; and in public, we walked together to the house of GOD.

16 Let sudden death seize on them, let them go down alive to the grave; for wickedness is in their dwellings, and in their hearts.

17 But as for me, I will call upon GOD, and JEHOVAH will save me.

18 In the evening and morning, and at noon, I pray, I cry aloud, and make my voice heard.

19" Deliver my life in peace, I say, from my nearest of kin, for they are among those who contend with me..

20" May GOD hear me, and humble them; and bring them back to their duty!". 21 As they haye yet experienced no misfortune, therefore they have no fear of GOD!

22 They lift up their hands against those who are at peace, and break their covenant with them,

23 The words of their mouths are softer than butter, but war is in their heart their words are smoother than oil, but, in reality, they are drawn swords.

24 Place thy confidence in JEHOVAH, and he will support thee; he will never suffer the righteous to be cast down..

25 But thou, O GOD! shalt bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloody and deceitful men shall not live half their days: but, as for me, I will place my trust in JEHOVAH.

PSALM

PSALM LVI.

HAVE pity on me, o GOD! for man panteth for my life; he is daily at war with me to oppress me. fife;

2 Mine enemies daily pant for my and they are many who war against me.

3 From day to day, I am in dread ; yet, in thee will I place my trust.

4 I will comfort myself in GOD's word; I will trust in GOD, and will not fear what man can do unto me.

5 They daily pervert my words; and all their designs tend to do me mischief.

6 They meet secretly, and mark my steps; watching an opportunity to take away my life.

7 Deliver me from them on account of their iniquity: bring them down, O GOD! in thy displeasure.

8 Thou, O GOD! numberest my wanderings; thou collectest my tears in thy bottle: are they not recorded in thy book?

9 When I call upon thee, let minet enemies be put to flight; by this I shall know that thou, O GOD! art with me.

10 In GOD's word will I rejoice; in GOD will I place my trust.

II Yea, in GOD will I place my trust : and will not fear what man can do unto me. 12 Unto thee, O GOD! I will pay my vows; I will offer praises unto thee:

13 For thou deliverest my life from death, and my feet from stumbling, that i may walk before thee, o GOD! in the light of the living.

PSALM LVII.

HAVE pity on me, O GOD! have pity on me; for my soul taketh refuge in theè: in the shadow of thy wings I shelter myself, until these calamities pass away.

2 I call upon GOD, even the most high GOD, who is ever bountiful to me :

3 Who sendeth me salvation from the heavens; and exposeth those to shame who would destroy me.

4 GOD displayed his bounty and truth: he delivered my life from the midst of lions, from the midst of ferocious men ; whose teeth were spears and arrows, and whose tongues were sharp swords.

5 A net

5 A net they had prepared for my steps, and a trap for my life; they had digged a pit before me, but have fallen into it them

selves.

6 Be thou exalted, O GOD! above the heavens; be thy glory displayed over all the earth.

7 Mine heart is ready, o GOD! mine heart is ready; I will sing and give praise.

8 Awake, my tongue; awake, my lyre and harp! I will wake the early morning!

9 I will praise thee, O JEHOVAH! among the peoples; I will celebrate thee among the nations:

10 For thy bounty reacheth unto the heavens; and thy truth unto the clouds. II Be thou exalted, o GOD! above the heavens; be thy glory displayed over all the earth.

PSALM LVIII.

Do ye administer justice, o ye princes?" do ye judge with equity the sons of men? 2 Nay; in your hearts ye meditate iniquity; and with your hands ye commit violence in the land.
