10 Continue thy loving-kindness unto those, who know thee ; and thy righteous. ness to those who are upright in heart.

u Let not the foot of the proud approach me; nor the hand of the wicked disturb mc.

12 Lo! the workers of iniquity are fallen : they are thrown down, and are unable to rise.

PSALM XXXVII.

FRET not thyself because of the wicked ; neither envy those who work iniquity :

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass ; and wither like the green herbage.

3 Place thou thy trust in JEHOVAH, and do good ; then thou shalt dwell in the land, and be fed with plenty:

4. Place thy delight in JEHOVAH; and he will grant thee thy heart's desires.

5 Commit thy cause unto JEHOVAH, and place thy trust in him ; and he will bring it to a conclusion :

6 He will make thy justice appear as the light; and thy righteousness as the noonday's brightness.

7 Repose

7 Repose thyself on JEHOVAH, and place thy trust in him ;

8 Fret not thyself at him who prospereth, neither at the man who executeth wicked devices.

9 Forbear from wrath, and avoid anger; be not angry even with the wickéd :

10 For the wicked shall be utterly cut off ; but those who rest on JEHOVAH shall inherit the land.

11 Yet; yet a while, and the wicked shall be no more ; thou mayst look for his place, but he shall not be found :

12 But the meek shall inherit the land ; and rejoice in the plenitude of peace.

13 The wicked man plotteth against the just ; and gnasheth at him with his teeth :

14. But JEHOVAH laugheth him to scorn; who seeth that his day is coming on.

15 The wicked draw the sword, and bend the bow, to destroy the meek and the needy; and to slay the upright :

16 But their sword shall enter their own hearts; and their bow shall be broken in pieces.

17 The little of the righteous, is better than the abundance of the wicked : 18 For the arms of the wicked shall be

but JEHOVAH supporteth the righteous.

19 JEHOVAH watcheth over the days of the innocent; and their inheritance shall endure for ever :

20 In the time of peril they shall not be confounded ; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

21 But, as for the wicked, and the enemies of JEHOVAH, they shall perish ; their honour and exaltation shall consume and vanish like smoke :

22 For as those who are blessed by him, shall inherit the land ; so those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.

23 The wicked man borroweth, but repayeth not ; but the just man giveth liberally:

24 He is daily liberal and lending ; and his posterity are blessed.

25 JEHOVAH directeth the good man's steps ; and maketh his way acceptable to

himself;

26 Though

26 Though he fall, he shall not be cast away ; for JEHOVAH supporteth him.

27. I have been young, and now am old; but I never saw the just man forsaken ; nor his posterity begging their bread.

28 Depart from evil, and do good; and thou shalt dwell in the land for ever :

29 For JEHOVAH loveth righteousness; and will not forsake bis devoted servants.

30 The humble are preserved for ever ; but the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off :

31 The just shall inherit the land ; and dwell in it for ever.

32 The mouth of the just talketh wisely; and his tongue speaketh with judgment.

33 The law of JEHOVAH is in his heart; his footsteps never slide.

34 The wicked man watcheth the just man ; and seeketh occasion to slay him :

35 But JEHOVAH will not leave him in his power; nor condemn him when he is judged.

36 Trust thou in JEHOVAH, and keep his way; then will he raise thee to the possession of the land, whilst thou shalt see the destruction of the wicked.

I have seen the wicked man formidable to all around him; and expanding himself like a green cedar in its native soil:
