PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK.

The Daily Services are so arranged, that if they appear to any one too long, entire portions may be omitted, and (if it is preferred) the Collects and Prayers may be used without the intermediate parts. For that purpose, the number of

Collects and Prayers have been increased in this Edition.

C

The Common Prayer-Book enjoining the Clergy (in the Rubric after the Nicene Creed) on every Sunday "to declare unto the people what Holydays or Fasting Days are in the week following to be observed;" it would be a means of furthering the spirit of this injunction, if Masters of Families gave their household that information at Morning Prayer on this day.

SUNDAY.

THE DAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST OUR SAVIOUR, AND THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Morning Prayer.

At the beginning of Morning Prayer, after mentioning what Fasts, Festivals, or days of domestic observance, occur in the week, the Master of the Family may read the following Sentences, unless there are any proper for the day.

I AM the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. St. John xi.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, and not on things of the earth: for ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Coloss. iii.

Then the Lord's Prayer to be said by all, kneeling.

OUR

Give

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.
