T was my desire to write a book on the IT Theater in its relation to Christian sentiment and conduct, in which every idea should be pertinent to the subject in hand, and from which nothing vital to its just treatment should be omitted. I intended that every statement made therein should be true, either of matters of history or in the description of existing facts and institutions. I wished the whole to be written in language colloquial yet correct, and without diffuseness or repetition. It was also in my plan that the treatise should be so brief that it could be read aloud |
