Mr. C. M. Jessop served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Crimea from June 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Was present doing duty with the Royal Artillery at the capture of Canton on 28th Dec. 1857 Medal with Clasp).

Doctor C. A. Innes served with the Royal Artillery in the Crimea from 26th May 1855, was present at the bombardments of the 18th June and 8th September, also with the expedition to Kertch (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 52nd Light Infantry during the Indian mutiny in 1857, and was in medical charge of the Regiment during part of the siege assault and capture of Delhi (Medal with Clasp).

Doctor J. Meane served with the 31st Regiment in the Crimea from 22nd May 1855, including the siege and fal of Sebastopol, and attacks of the 18th June and 8th September, and received a contused wound on the knee from a shell in the Trenches on 17th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. J. H. Robotham served with the 2nd Dragoon Guards in the Indian campaign of 1858-59, including the action of Nusserutpore, siege and capture of Lucknow, subsequent operations, action of Barree, the Oude paign, action of Jamo, siege and capture of Birwah, Trans-Gogra affairs at Bungaon (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).

Mr. S. Roch served in the Crimean campaign from 28th Feb. 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol and attack of the 18th June; also served with the French as a volunteer at the storming of the Mamelon on the 7th Jane Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. W. C. Roe served with the 89th Regiment in the Crimea from 2nd March to 28th June 1855, including the siego of Sebastopol and attack of the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. H. J. Rose served in the Crimea from June 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served the campaign of 1860 in North China, including the taking of Sinho and gku, actions of 18th and 21st September, and surrender of Pekin, and was in medical charge of the 2nd Queen's Royals from the taking of Tangku to the end of the campaign (Medal with two Clasps).

Sir Robert William Jackson served with the goth Light Infantry in the Crimea, from 5th Dec. 1854, including the ice and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served during the Indian mutiny; jn medical charge of a Battalion at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, present at the battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec. 1857, with Outram's Force at the Alumbagh, assault and capture of Lucknow ; in medical charge of the Camel Corps at the assault and capture of Calpee; present at the capture of the Forts of Dehaign and Tyrhool in Oude, a daring the final operations of Jugdespore (Medal with three Clasps). Accompanied Sir Garnet Wolseley to the Gold Coast in September 1873, and served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74, including the action of Iman, relief of Abrakrampa, battle of Amoaful, battle of Ordahsu and capture of Coomassie; and was in medical charge of the 1st Field Hospital from its formation to the end of the campaign (mentioned in despatches, CB., Medal with Clasp).

Mr. T. Teevan served in the Crimea from the 17th Nov. 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal With Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also the campaign of 1860 in China (Medal with Clasp for the Taku Forts). Mr. J. C. Hornsby Wright served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the Royal Artillery, and was present at the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman (wounded, and horse shot under him), siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the Abyssinian campaign (Medal). Mr. J. Sparrow served with the 98th Regiment in the Peshawur Expeditionary Force on the Euzofzie Frontier under Sir Sydney Cotton in April and May 1858, and at the affair with the Hindoostanee fanatics on the Heghts of Sittana on the 4th May (Medal with Clasp).

Mr. St. John Stanley served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, Bege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal),

Mr. Allen served in the field with the Cape Mounted Riflemen during the Kaffir war of 1846-47 and was present in many skirmishes (Medal).

Mr. Anderson served the Eastern campaign of 1854, and again from 15th March 1855 (Medal with Clasp for Sebastopol, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor D. S. E. Bain served in the Crimea from 13th May 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor E.W.Bawtree served in the New Zealand war, and acted as Senior Medical Officer in Taranaki from May 1 to April 1866, and took part in expeditions against the rebel Maories. Served in Abyssinia as Principal Medical Cicer of British Troops to the 2nd Division of the expeditionary force from 9th March 1868 to the terinination of the campaign (Medal).

Doctor F. H. Baxter served with the 6th Dragoons in the Crimean campaign from 9th March 1855, including the ack of the 18th June, battle of the Tchernaya, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor Blake served with the 98th Regiment in China (Medal), and was present at the storm and capture of Kiang Foo. Served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, the siege of Serastopol, and repulse of the sortie on 26th Oct. 1854 (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. Blenkins served with the Grenadier Guards in the Crimean campaign from 20th Dec. 1854, including the ge and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor Boyes served as Surgeon of the 1st Battalion 6oth Rifles in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, and was present during the second siege operations at Mooltan and capture of that fortress, battle of Goojerat, pursuit of The Sikh Army until its final surrender at Rawul Pindee, the occupation of Attock and Peshawur, and expulsion of the Affghan Force beyond the Khyber Pass (Medal with two Clasps).

Doctor Cameron served in Bengal during the mutiny as Surgeon 37th Regiment (Medal).

Mr. Cowan served with the 18th Royal Irish in China (Medal), and was present during the operations against Canton, and the attack and capture of Chapoo, Shanghai, Woosung, and Chin Kiang Foo. Served also in the Puncampaign of 1848-49 (Medal).

Mr. De Lisle served with the 4th Regiment throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Tkish Medal).

* Doctor R. Domenichetti served on the Staff of General Havelock on his first taking the field in 1857, and was present in the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore, Buseerutgunge, Bithoor, and Alumbagh, 1) the defence of the Alumbagh (thanked by the President of the Council of India). Served with the 75th Regiment before Lucknow under General Outram in two attacks upon his position (Medal with Clasp).

Doctor H. Downes served in the Crimea from the 20th Nov. 1854, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, Turkish Medal, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).

Doctor U. W. Evans served as a volunteer (his Regiment, the 16th Lancers, being at home) from the commencement of the war in Russia until promoted in December 1854, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and InkerLan, and in the Trenches before Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor Galbraith served with the 99th Regiment in the New Zealand war (Medal), and was present at Ohaeawi and Ruapekapeka. He was the Senior Medical Officer present during the greater part of the operations in the &athern district of New Zealand; at several skirmishes in the Valley of the Hutt; also at the Horokiwi on the 6th Aug. 1846. Served with the expeditionary force in the North of China in 1860 (Medal).

Mr. Graves served with the 4th Light Dragoons during the campaign in Afghanistan under Lord Keane, and was present at the siege and capture of Ghuznée (Medal). Served also in the Crimea with the 68th Regiment in 1854-55,and was present at the battle of Inkerman and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps, and Turkish Medal) Doctor G. K Hardie served with the 53rd Regiment in the Punjaub campaign in 1849, and was present at the battle of Goojerat (Medal with Clasp).

Mr. Howard served with the 20th Regiment throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, and assault of the 8th September (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Clase of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the actions of Chanda, Umeerpore, and Sultanpore, siege and capture of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp).

Mr. W. F. T. Ivey served with the Army in Turkey and Bulgaria in 1854, and in the Crimea in the 31st Regiment in 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

*Mr. Jee served in the Persian war in 1857, including the night attack and battle of Kooshab, and bombardmen

of Mohumrah (Medal with Clasp). Served with Havelock's Column in the several actions leading to and ending in the relief of the Residency of Lucknow and subsequent defence; with Outram's force at Alumbagh, mcluding the repulse of the numerous attacks, and operations ending in the final capture of Lucknow; present with Brigadier Campbell's Column in the affairs of 20th and 21st March; also the Rohilcund campaign in 1858 and capture of Bareilly (Medal with Clasp, CB., Victoria Cross, and a year's service for Lucknow).

9 Mr. Laing served the campaign under Sir Charles Napier against the mountain and robber tribes situated on the right bank of the Indus early in 1845. Served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 (Medal with Clasp). Joined the 23rd Fusiliers in Bundlecund in Jan. 1858, and served in the operations across the Goomtee, at the siege and capture of Lucknow and Trans-Gogra operations (Medal with Clasp).

95 Doctor M'Wharrie was present with the 59th Regiment at the operations before and capture of Canton in 1857 (Medal with Clasp).

96 Mr. Mockler served with the roth Regiment in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the latter part of the siege operations before Mooltan, the surrender of that fortress, and battle of Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps).

97 Doctor Moorhead served with the 32nd Regiment at the first and second siege operations before Mooltan, includ ing the capture of the city and surrender of the fortress (Medal with Clasp).

Doctor B. Nicholson served as Staff Assistant Surgeon in the Kaffir war of 1847-48; with the 60th Rifles in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal); and as Staff Surgeon in the campaign of 1860 in North China in charge of one of the two General Field Hospitals (Medal). Also in the New Zealand war in charge of the General Field Hospitals, Waikato and Wanganui, in 1864-66 (Medal).

100 Mr. T. Parr served with the 55th Regiment on the Bhootan expedition, including the recapture of Dewangiri in 1865.

101 Mr. E. S. Protheroe served with the Royal Artillery in the Crimean campaign from the 30th Oct. 1854, including the battle of Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps, and Turkish Medal).

102 Doctor J. Rambaut was present at the defeat of the insurgents at Matole on the 29th July, during the suppres sion of the rebellion in the Kandian Provinces in Ceylon in 1848.

10 Doctor Sall served in the Kaffir war of 1852-53 (Medal).

105 Mr. G. Saunders served in medical charge of the 47th Regiment the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma, Inkerman, capture of Balaklava, siege of Sebastopol, and sortie on the 26th Oct. 106 Doctor Seaman served in the Crimean campaign as Surgeon of the 72nd Highlanders from 28th May 1855, including the expedition to Kertch, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attack of the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, sud Turk sh Medal). Also in the same capacity in the Indian campaigns in 1858-59, including the siege and capture of Kotah, being present with the leading Column of assault on the 30th March 1858; and subsequently throughout the operations in Central India and pursuit of Tantia Topee and Rao Sahib in 1858-59 (Medal with Clasp).

107 Doctor Swettenham served with Havelock's Column in the action of Mungarwar, attack and capture of the Alumbagh, assault and relief of the Residency of Lucknow and its subsequent defence (wounded-grant of a year e service); present with Outram's Division throughout the occupation of the Alumbagh and the sorties thence, alat the capture of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, the subsequent campaign in Oude, including the action of Buxar Ghat, Doondiakera, and other minor affairs (Medal with two Clasps).

110 Mr. Waring served in the Kaffir war of 1847 (Medal).

113 Mr. R. F. Andrews served with the 1st Dragoon Guards in the Crimea from Aug. 1855, including the battle of the Tchernaya and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). 114 Mr. G. B. F. Arden served with the 12th Regiment in the New Zealand war from July 1863 to June 1866 (Medal).

115 Doctor L. Armstrong served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the reconnaissance on the Danube under Lord Cardigan, affair of Bulganac, battles of Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman, and Tchernaya, and siege of Sebastopol also present with the Light Cavalry Brigade at Eupatoria (Medal with four Clasps, and Turkish Medal).

116 Mr. W. Armstrong served with the 54th Regiment in the Indian mutiny; was in medical charge of the expedition to Sylhet in 1857 and also of a Field Force in Oude including attack on the Fort of Leheau in March 1858 (Medal).

117 Mr. J. B. Baker served with the Expeditionary Force in the north of China in 1860 (Medal).

118 Mr. J. Barker served in the Crimea from the 15th May 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also served in India in 1858, and was present at the siege and capture of Lucknow and actions of Sirsee and Nawabgunge (Medal with Clasp).

119 Doctor Barry served with the 1st Battalion 60th Royal Rifles throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, was present at the siege of Mooltan, also at the battle of Goojerat, 21st Feb. 1849 (Medal with two Clasps), Landed in the Crumra with the 13th Light Infantry on the 30th June 1855, and was at the battle of the Tchernaya, siege and fall of Sebasto pol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). 120 Mr. W. F. Bennett served in the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal). Served in the Afghan war in 1879-80, and accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at the battle of Candabar (Meda) with Clasp, and Bronze Decoration).

121 Doctor A. W. Beveridge served with the 78th Highlanders in the Indian campaign and was present with Outram's Force in the Alumbagh, including the repulse of numerous attacks, and operations ending in the firs capture of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp).

12 Mr. T. K. Birnie served with the 1st Royals in the Crimea from 7th May 1855, including the siege and fall c Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served throughout the campaign of 1860 in North China, ami was present at the storm and capture of Sinho and Tangku, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps). 123 Mr. Black served in the Kathir war of 1847, and in that of 1851-53, and was present at the capture of Fort Arm strong from the rebels on 22nd Feb. 1851 (Medal). Served also in the Crimea from 6th Sept. 1855 (Medal with Clasp for Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal).

126 Mr. J. A. Bostock served in the Buffs at the battle of Punniar 29th Dec. 1843 (Bronze Star). Served in the Eastern campaign of 1854, and up to 16th April 1855, with the Scots Fusilier Guards, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, and sortie on the 26th October (Medal with four Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal).

127 Doctor R. T. Buckle served with the 64th Regiment in the Persian campaign of 1856, including the storm and capture of Reshire, and surrender of Bushire (Medal with Clasp).

128 Mr. C. H. Browne served in the Indian campaign from Nov. 1857 to April 1859, and was present at the siege and capture of the Fort of Awab, also at the seige storm and capture of the town and Fort of Kotah, (Medal wad Clasp).

129 Doctor Burton was present at the defence of M'Carthy's Island from an attack of a force of natives, and ass steč to work the guns in action-mentioned in despatches. Served in medical charge of a Wing of the 25th Regent during the rebellion of 1848 in Ceylon. Served in the Crimean campaign from 18th April 1855, including the sicer and fall of Sebastopol, and assaults of the 18th June and 8th September (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). 130 Doctor A. P. Cahill served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, and was present with the 32nd Light infantry at the first and second siege operations before Mooltan, the action of Sooru khoond, the capture of the city, arzi surrender of the fortress. Also present at the surrender of the Fort and garrison of Cheniote and the battle of Goojerat (Medal with two clasps). Served with the saine Regiment in the Peshawur campaign of 1852 with th force under Sir Colin Campbell against the frontier hill tribes (Medal with Clasp). Served in Bengal during the Indian mutiny of 1857-59, and with the 80th Regiment in the campaign in Oude (Medal).

Mr. G. M. Carolan was present in the action of Pertabghur on 24th Dec. 1858 (Medal).

155 Doctor C. V. Cay served with the Coldstream Guards in the Crimean campaign from the 30th Nov. 1854, includ. ing the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal.)

Mr. T. Clark served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assaults of the Redan on the 18th June and 8th September (Medal with three Clasps, Sardinian and Turkish Medals). Served with the 69th Regiment at the affair with the Fenians at Trout River, Canada, in May 1870.

1 Doctor J. B. Cockburn served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the expedition to Kertch, and Yenikale, and seige of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp and Turkish Medal).

139 Doctor Francis Collins served with the 5th Fusiliers during the Sepoy mutiny in 1857-58, and was present at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, including the attacks on the Dilkoosha and Martiniere; with Outram's Division in the Alumbagh, and engaged in the various operations there; also at the siege and capture of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp).

1 Doctor M. Combe served with the Royal Artillery throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, the siege and fall of Sebastopol,and repulse of the sortie on 26th Oct. 1854 (Medal with four Clasps, Turkish Medal, and 5th Class of the Medjidie.)

1 Mr. P. H. E. Cross served in the Crimean campaign from the 3rd Feb. 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 13th Light Infantry during the Indian mutiny campaign, and was present at the relief of Azimghur and its subsequent defence, pursuit of Koer Sing, and subsequent operations (Medal).

Doctor D. Cullen served in the Crimea for nine months during the siege of Sebastopol, chiefly attached to the 68th and 48th Regiments; and was with the 4th Light Dragoons on the Cavalry expedition to Eupatoria (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade during the suppression of the Indian matmy in 1857-58, was present at the siege and capture of Lucknow, affair of Koorsee, action of Nawabgunge, and with the reserve Column of the Oude Field Force at Oomeriah, and in the Trans-Gogra campaign (Medal with Clasp). Mr. W. Curran served in the Hazara campaign of 1868, and was present with the Field Hospital at Oghee during the advance of the troops into the Black Mountain (Medal with Clasp). Doctor F. S. B. F. de Chaumont served with the Rifle Brigade in the Crimea from 21st May 1855, and was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor D. F. de Hodgson served with the Royal Artillery engaged in the Sikkim expedition of 1861. 147 Mr. H. W. Devlin served in the Abyssinian campaign of 1867-68 (Medal).

1 Mr. D. J. Doberty served in the Crimean campaign from 2nd July to 17th Aug. 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor J. Doran served with the 60th Rifles throughout the campaign of 1860 in China (Medal with two Clasps). 10 Doctor C. M. Douglas was decorated with the Victoria Cross, together with four Privates of the 24th Regiment, "for the very gallant and daring manner in which, on the 7th May 1867, they risked their lives in manning a boat and proceeding through a dangerous surf to the rescue of some of their comrades, who formed part of an expedi tion which had been sent to the island of Little Andaman, and by which 17 Officers and men were rescued from a fearful risk, if not certain death."

Mr. J. H. Finnemore served in the Royal Artillery with the expedition to China in 1860, and was present at actions of Sinho and Tangku, capture of Taku Forts, actions near Tangchow, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps). Served with the 45th Regiment in the Abyssinian campaign, and was present at the capture of Magdala (Medal). Served in the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal).

Mr. W. Fletcher served in the Crimean campaign from the 25th Aug. 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. Foaker served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,as Surgeon 38th Regiment, and as 1st Staff Surgeon, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and expedition to Kinbourn (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal.

Doctor Alex. S. Fozo served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the Royal Artillery, including the battles of Alma and Balaklava, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. H. D. Fowler served with the 82nd Regiment in the Crimea subsequent to the fall of Sebastopol from the 1th October 1855 to the end of the Russian war in July 1856. Also in the suppression of the Indian mutiny in 1857-59, including the operations at Cawnpore under Windham, defeat of the Gwalior Contingent on 6th Dec. 1857, action of Kalee Nudce, advance on Futtehghur, campaign in Rohilcund, defence of Shahjehanpore (Medal). 14 Doctor H. B. Franklyn served the Indian campaign of 1857-58 with the Royal Horse Artillery, including the attack on Secundra, storm and capture of Meeangunge, capture of Lucknow, with Azimghur Field Force in the affairs of 9th and 10th June (was several times mentioned in despatches, twice for gallantry and once for general ability and zeal, Medal with Clasp). Was in charge of the stores and appliances of Lady Shaftesbury's Committee during the campaign of 1860 in Italy. Specially mentioned for his gratuitous attendance on the wounded in times of much peril" after the battle of Volturno and subsequent operations, ending in the capitulawn of Capus. Was thanked personally by and made Honorary Surgeon to the King of Italy, and Chevalier of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus. Has had the Victor Emmanuel War Medal conferred on him for aid to the wounded in the campaign of 1860-61, and the Neapolitan Gold Medal of the Royal Humane Society of Italy "for service of peril." Doctor H. M. Fraser served in the Indian mutiny campaign, including the siege and capture of Lucknow, where he acted as Sanitary Officer to the Forces under the Commander-in-Chief. 168 Mr. W. Grautt served in the Crimea from 12th Nov. to 28th Dec. 1854, and from 31st July 1855, including the siege and full of Sebastopol, and attack of the 8th September (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also served throughout the campaign in the north of China in 1860, including the action of Sinho, and storming of Tangku (Melal with Clasp for the Taku Forts).

Mr. Charles Gray servedthroughout the campaign of 1860 in North China, including the action of Sinho, taking of Tangkn, and storming of the inner North Taku Fort (Medal with Clasp).

Mr. A. J. Greer served with the 21st Fusiliers in the Eastern campaign of 1854, and up to 5th July 1855. including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, storming of the Quarries on the 7th June, and attack on the Redan on the 18th June-mentioned in despatches (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor T. E. Hale served with the 7th Fusiliers in the Crimean campaign from the 25th Jan. 1855, including duty in the trenches during the bombardments of Sebastopol in April and June, as also the assaults of the Redan on the 18th June and 3th September (Medal with Clasp, Turkish Medal, and Victoria Cross). Served in medical charge on a field force under Colonel Blunt during the Indian mutiny, detached from Lahore to the Trans-Indus Frontier during the hot season of 1857.

174 Doctor J. J. Hanrahan served in the Hazara campaign of 1863. Served also in the second phase of the Ashanti war from December 1873 (Medal).

175 Mr. W. H. Harris served in the Crimea from the 22nd May 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, the attack of the 18th June, and battle of the Tchernaya (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also served during the Indian campaign in 1857-58, and was present with Colonel Maxwell's Column in the operations before Calpee early in 1858, and proceeded with it to the Alumbagh during the capture of Lucknow. Present also at the surrender of the Forts of Ahmatee and Shunkerpore, pursuit of Beni Madhoo across the Gogra, at the subsequent operations in Oude (Medal).

176 Mr. H. Harrison served in the Royal Artillery with the expedition to China in 1860, and was present at the actions of Sinho and Tangku, capture of Taku Forts, actions near Tangchow, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps).

177 Mr. J. C. Haverty served in the Crimea from July 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). 179 Doctor W. Hemphill served with the 48th Regiment in the Crimea from the 21st April 1855, including the stege and fall of Sebastopol, and detached duty in the dockyard from 14th Jan. to 14th March 1856 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Hinde served with a field force under Colonel Murray up the River Gambia in 1861, and was present at all the operations, including the storm and capture of the stockaded town of Sabba, and was mentioned in despatches for attending the wounded who were lying at point blank range of the stockade before it was finally

carried.

181 Mr. J. J. Henry served in the Indian campaign of 1857-59, and was present at the action of Khujwah, relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, action at Cawnpore on 6th Dec. 1857, capture of Lucknow, the Rohileund campaign, attack on the Fort of Rooyah, action of Allygunge, attack and capture of Bareilly, and with the Saugor Field Division in various operations in Bundlecund (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the New Zealand war of 1863-65, and was present at the attack on the Gate Pah, and at Te Rauga (mentioned in despatches), also in several skirmishes (Medal).

Mr. L. G. Hooper served in the Crimea from 22nd Sept. to Nov. 1854, when he was sent to Sentari in charge of wounded, but returned to the Crimea the following spring, and was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

183 Doctor J. A. B. Horton served in medical charge of the expeditionary force under Captain Bridge, R.A., up the river Gambia, when the King of Boondoo invaded and destroyed the country and various important towns, in 1866. Served throughout the Ashanti war in 1873-74 (Medal).

184 Mr. J. M. Hyde served with the 14th Regiment in the Crimea from the 19th Jan. to 2nd Sept. 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol and assault of the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

185 Mr. A. R. Hudson served with the 6th Regiment in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1858, including the operations in the Jugdespore Jungle (Medal). Served also throughout the operations against the hill tribes in Sikkim in 1861.

189 Mr. M. G. Jones served with the 51st Light Infantry in the Jowaki campaign in 1877 (Medal with Clasp. 190 Mr. E. Y. Kellett served in the Crimea from the 1st October 1854 to the 20th May 1856, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and in medical charge of detachments from Balaklava that took part in the battle on the 25th October 1854. Was in medical charge of Russian wounded prisoners after Inkerman, and of the General Field and Cholera Hospitals of the 3rd Division (Medal with two Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served in the New Zealand war in 1863-65, and was in medical charge of the 14th Regiment at the battle of Rangiriri (mentioned in despatches, Medal).

191 Doctor J. Kellie was in medical charge of a detachment 86th Regiment in 1857 at the siege and capture of Dhar, action at Mundesore, battle of Googaria, and relief of Neemuch. Served also with the 17th Lancers in Rajpootana and Central India, and was present at the action at Zeerapore in Dec. 1858 (Medal with Clasp).

192 Mr. Henry Lamb served with the Waikato Field Force during the New Zealand war in 1863-65 and was present at Paterangi, Waiari, and the subsequent operations of that campaign (Medal).

193 Mr. W. Leach served in medical charge of the Left Wing 71st Highlanders during the Central Indian campaign under Sir John Michel, and was present at the battles of Beora, Mongroulie, Sindwayu, and affair of Karrai (Medal). 194 Mr. B. Lane served with the 80th Regiment in the Burmese war of 1852-53, including the attack on the outpost of Tomboo and several operations in its vicinity (Medal with Clasp for Pegu. Noticed in General Orders by the Commander in Chief in India of 10th November 1853 for assiduous attention to the sick on an occasion when the whole detachment at Tomboo were prostrated by fever. Also during the suppression of the Indian mutiny in 1858 and present at the action on the banks of the Jumna on the 5th March (Medal).

195 Doctor Lewins served with the 63rd Regiment the Eastern campaign of 1854, and up to the 13th Jan. 1855, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava and Inkerman and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served in the expedition to the north of China in 1860 in charge of the hospital ship Mauritius, and was present at the capture of the Taku Forts (Medal).

196 Doctor J. R. M. Lewis served with the Rifle Brigade in the expedition against the insurgent Boers, north of the Orange river, and was present at the action of Boem Plaats on 29th August 1848.

197 Doctor A.E. T. Longhurst served in the Crimean campaign of 1854-55, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the Indian campaign of 1858-59, and was present in the actions at Jugdespore (mentioned in despatches for "untiring zeal and courageous attention throughout the day") and Toolsepore (Medal).

197+ Doctor E. L. Low, prior to entering the Army, served in the Royal Navy from the 14th February 1856 to the 25th November 1858. Served through the campaign of 1860 in North China (Medal). Also through the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal). Served in the Afghan war of 1878-80, and present at the capture of the Peiwar Kotal in December 1878, the engagement at Charasiab, and in the various operations around Cabul from October to December 1879, including the investment of Sherpore (Medal with three Clasps).

198 Mr. M'Donald served with the 25th Regiment on the expedition against the insurgent Boers and taking of Port Natal in June 1842. Also with the 73rd Regiment throughout the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal), and accompanied the expedition into Kreli's country in Dec. 1851 as Senior Medical Officer.

Was in Medical Charge of Wood's Regiment and the Troops commanded by Colonel Wood at the head of the road when following the enemy from Mansu to the river Prah, including the reconnaissance of the 27th November. Present at the battle of Amonful, battle of Ordahsu, and capture of Coomassie (mentioned in despatches, CB., Medal with Clasp). Mr. E. O'Connell served in the New Zealand war of 1863-66; in the Waikato campaign, and had medical charge of the Right Wing of a Flying Column under Major Rutherford, 70th Regiment, from Jan, to April 1864; East Coast campaign, and present at the Gate Pah and Te Ranga engagements (mentioned in de-patches); General Chute's expedition from Wanganui to Taranaki and back, and present at the attacks on Okotuku, Patahi, Otapawa, Kitioniti, Pukiti, Ketemaria, Waikoko, and Merimeri (Medal).

a Doctor D. O'Donovan was in medical charge of the 54th Regiment during the burning of the steam transport Sarah Sunds at sea on the 11th Nov. 1857. Served with a force against the hostile Indians of Yucatan in April and May 1861.

23 Mr. R. J. W. Orton served on the Medical Staff in the Crimea from the 23rd Feb. to 12th Sept. 1855 (Medal with Clasp for Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 44th Regiment during the camps ign in the north of China in 1860 (Medal with Clasp for Taku).

Mr. Oughton served in the Ashanti expedition of 1863-64 and in the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal). Served with a mountain battery of Royal Artillery in the Afghan war in 1879-80, and accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at the battle of Candahar (Medal with Clasp, and Bronze Decoration). 15 Mr. J. C. Ovens served with the 9th Regiment in the Crimea from 13th Nov. 1854, including the siege and full of Sebastopol, and assault of the batteries on the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

216 Mr. T. Park served with the Royal Artillery in the Eastern campaign of 1854 55, including the battle of Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and repulse of the sortie on the 26th Oct. 1854 (Medal with two Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. L. O. Patterson served in medical charge of a field force against the rebel Kareens in Burmah, and was present in six engagements. Served in India during the mutiny in 1858-59; was in medical charge of the Arrah Field Force from June to Oct. 1858, and present in action at Sirthooa (wounded), Julpoora, Brahminagunge, Rampore, Perowra, Jumaon, Karrisath, and Jugdespore; volunteered to overtake Lt. Colonel Sir H. Havelock and take medical charge of his Cavalry; present with them at the charge and action at Neenadee, present again with the field force in the last action at Mahoolan, and in several other minor skirmishes (three times mentioned in despatches, Medal).

29 Mr. W. Perry served with the Royal Artillery throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of the 26th Oct. 1854 (Me lal with three Clasps, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).

Mr. G. B. Poppelwell served on the Staff in the Crimean campaign of 1854-55, and was present with the 31st Regiment at the siege of Sebastopol, and attack of the Redan on the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 84th Regiment from the commencement of the Indian mutiny, and was present with Havelock's Force in the actions of Mungarwar and Alumbagh, relief of Lucknow and its subsequent defence; with Outram's Force at the Alumbagh including the repulse of numerous attacks, at the siege and capture of Lucknow, and with the goth Light Infantry during the subsequent operations in Oude (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for Lucknow. Thanked in Orders at Cawnpore by Brigadier General Neil for his unwearied attention and exertion to his numerous patients and his excellent hospital arrangements in treating so many sick and wounded"). Served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66 (Medal).

Mr. A. Reid served with the Royals in the Crimea from the 15th July 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. T. B. Reid served in medical charge of a Wing of the 7th Bengal Native Infantry during the Santal insurrection. Served in the 53rd Regiment during the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the actions of Chattra, Gopalgunge, Khodgunge, and entry into Futteghur, affair of Shumshabad, storm and capture of Meangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow. Served on the Staff in Oude during the campaign of 1859 (Medal

with Clasp).

26 Mr. W. J. Rendell served with the 41st and 55th Regiments in the Crimea from 10th March 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in India during the mutiny of 1857-59; present in medical charge of two Batteries of Royal Artillery at the action of Secundra (Medal). Served with the 55th Regiment on the Bhootan expedition in 1865 (Medal with Clasp).

Doctor A. C. Robertson served with the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade in the action of Pandoo Nuddee, in the operations of Cawnpore under General Windham, battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec. 1857, siege and capture of Lucknow, subsequent operations in Oude, action of Nawab Gunge, passage of the Goomtee, and occupation of Sultanpore (Medal and Clasp). Served in the Zulu war of 1879 (Medal with Clasp).

Doctor Frederick Robinson served with the Scots Fusilier Guards throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55. including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of the 26th Oct. 1854 (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. J. D. Sainter served with the Cavalry Division throughout the campaign of 1860 in China (Medal).

Doctor J. E. Scott served with the Rifle Brigade in the Kaffir war of 1852-53, including the expedition beyond the Kei in Aug. 1852, and the final clearing of the Waterkloof (Medal). Embarked with the Rifle Brigade and served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,-from March 1855 as Surgeon of the 41st Regiment (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor W. M. Skues served as Principal Medical Officer on the Expedition from Aden into Arabia against the Arabs in 1865-66.

**Doctor H. F. Smith served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55; was attached to Head Quarters and not absent a single day from duty; had medical charge of Staff belonging to Adjutant and Quarter Master General's Departments, and subsequently on the personal Staff of Sir James Simpson and Sir William Codrington; present at Balganac, Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Doctor R. B. Smyth served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle of Balaklava and siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps, and Turkish Medal).

Mr. W. Shell served throughout the campaign of 1860 in North China, including the action of Sinho, taking of Tangku, with the Reserve at the storming of the North Taku Fort, actions of the 18th and 21st September, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps, and promoted for "meritorious services").

Mr. A. A. Stoney served in India during the mutiny in 1857-58 (Medal).
