18 Sir Harry Lumsden served as Interpreter and Quarter Master to the 33rd Bengal Native Infantr Affghanistan with General Pollock's Force in 1842, and present at the forcing of the Khyber Pass, operations in Mazeena and Sungoo Khale Valleys under Brigadier Monteith, battle of Tazeen, forcing of the Jugdulluck fr and recapture of Cabool (Medal). Served as Interpreter and Quarter Master 59th N.I. in the Sutlej camp in 1846, and was severely wounded at the battle of Sobraon with the attacking Column (Medal). Appointed Assistant to the Governor General's Agent, N.W. Provinces, on 15th April 1846, and present with a Brigade of S against fanatic Hindostanees; the Syuds of Kaghan and Hazara tribes at the forcing of the Doob Pass and aff Ballakote, and received the thanks of Government. Raised the Corps of Guides, Cavalry and Infantry, 13this 1846, and present in command of them at the siege of Mooltan in January 1849; cut up a strong Detachment of rea Seik Infantry under Gunda Sing in Maharaja Golab Sing's territory, and thanked by Government; and preser the battle of Goojerat (mentioned in despatches, Punjaub Medal with two Clasps, and Brevet of Major). Hasra manded the Guide Corps in sixteen affairs with hill tribes on the Peshawur frontier, including Lt.Colonel G. Lawrence's attack on Baboozie, Pulie Zoormundie, and Shere Khanie in 1847; Lt.Colonel Bradshaw's attack wa same villages with the addition of Suggow and Moora in 1850; Sir Colin Campbell's affairs of Dubb, Naweud Planghar, Iskakote, in 1852. Served in Brigadier General Chamberlain's expedition against Cabul Khale Masood Wuzeerees in 1859-60, and commanded the left attack at the forcing of the Burrura Pass, as well as at Cut Puloseen when a heavy night attack was repulsed and the enemy severely punished (Medal with Clasp). Concade a political mission to Candahar in 1857. Was severely wounded by a fanatic while in command of the Guide ( 2nd Aug. 1864.

19 Lieut-General J. E. T. Nicolls served the Gwalior campaign of 1843-44, including the battle of Mahara (Bronze Star). Was severely wounded in the Sutlej campaign (Medal).

20 Lieut.General J. G. Petrie served the campaign of 1843 in Scinde, including the battles of Mecauer Hyderabad (Medal). Also served in suppression of the Indian mutiny, and was present at the attack on Are siege of Kotah, and battle of Bunass (mentioned in despatch, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp). Wray was employed with the Turkish Contingent from its formation to the end of the wý incluing seven months at Kerteh during the Crimean war (Brevet of Major, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and Parm Meda). Served in cominand of the siege train with General Roberts' Force at Rajpootana, and was present e sieges of Ahwa (mentioned in despatches), and Kotah (mentioned in despatches) and pursuit of Tantis 7 (CB..Medal with Clasp).

27 Lieut. General Younghusband served in the Crimean campaign from October to November 1854, including battle of Inkerman and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps, and Turkish Medal).

28 Major General H. C. Adlam served throughout the operations of the Candahar Force under General Nott durin 1840-42, including the advance upon Ghuznee and Cabool and storming of Istaliff (Medal). Commanded the & nor General's escort at the battle of Maharajpore, 29th Dec. 1843 (Bronze Star). Served in the Sutlej campa 1846, and was present at the battle of Sobraon (Medal).

Major General G. Adye was employed in suppressing the insurrection in the Parlah Kimedy district in 1857and during the rebellion in Shorapore in 1857-58, and was present at the repulse of the night attack wou som on the camp of the Hyderabad Contingent in front of Shorapore on the 7th February, also at the affair of the and at the capture of the city on the 9th Feb. 1858 (Medal).

30 Major General W. Agnew served during the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Employed against rebels North of Jullunder, and present at the first attack on Ram Singh's position at Dullah.

31 Major General F. L. Alexander was present during the siege of Sebastopol until its fall, and in action with outer batteries on 20th April; at Eupatoria during the defence of the lines against the Russian uriny 17th žal also at the bombardment and surrender of Kinbourn (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

32 Major General G. G. Alexander served with the Baltic expedition in 1854 (Medal). Commanded the R. M. ArtTM| serving with the Brigade in the Crimea in 1854-55, and was employed in the siege train in the batteries before e topol during its siege and fall, and was also at the bombardment and surrender of Kinbourn (Medal with Ce Brevets of Major and Lt.Colonel, CB., Knight of the Legion of Honor, Sardinian Medal, 4th Class of the Me, and Turkish Medal).

33 Major General W. R. E. Alexander served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Burmese w 1852-53 (Medal with Clasp for Pegu). Sonthal campaign of 1855. Served throughout the Indian mutiny má paign of 1857-59, and present during the attack onAgra by the Neemuch mutineers; commanded the attacking against a large force of rebels at Annntram in Feb. 1858; raised “Alexander's Horse," and commanded from Oct. 1857 to July 1860 (Medal, and twice thanked by Government).

34 Major General H. Alexander served with the 10th Hussars in the Crimea from 7th July 1855, including battle of the Tchernaya and siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). 33 Major General D. G. Anderson served in the Punjauh campaign in 1849, including the siege and capture »' Fortress of Mooltan, battle of Goojerat, surrender of the Sikh Army at Rawal Pindee (Medal with two Clasps). 36 Major General J. R. Anderson served during the operations on the Yiang-tse-Kiang in China in 1842, inch the storm and capture of Chin Kiang Foo; also the demonstration before Nankin (Medal). 37 Major General R. P. Anderson served throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the afe Ramnuggur, passage of the Chenab, and battles of Sadoolapore, Chillianwaliah, and Goojerat (Medal and • Clasps). Served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58; commanded a most exposed outpost during the e defence of the Residency at Lucknow, and was wounded in the head, face, and foot (mentioned in desp. : Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp, and a year's service).

Major General W. R. Annesley served with the 97th Regt. in the Crimea from the 20th Nov. 1854 to Feb. 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the suppression of the mutiny in India from Nov. 1857; commanded two Companies 97th Regt. in the operations in Bundlecund in 1859, and was present at the surprise and night attack of the enemy on the Kala Nuddy on 5th November (Medal). Major General A. E. H. Anson served in the Crimean campaign from May to September 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol, in the Trenches with the siege train, and at the bombardments of 6th and 17th June (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).

Major General F. Applegath was employed on field service with the Kamtee Movable Column in the Saugor and Nerbudda Territories and Raepore district from 17th July 1857 to 30th April 1858; proceeded with some Irregular Cavalry on piquet to the Wardah, was engaged at Balakote, Sleemanabad, and Ramkerah (Medal).

Major General C. Armstrong served in the Crimean campaign in 1855 in the Turkish Contingent, and present a volunteer with the 94th Regiment at the attack of the Redan on the 18th June (Medal with Clasp and Turkish Was attached to the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade during the operations at Cawnpore under General indham in Nov. 1857 and was severely wounded through both legs, the right amputated (Medal). Served as 2nd is command of the 14th Bengal Native Infantry during the Umbevla campaign of 1863 (Medal with Clasp). Major General W. Ashburner served with the field force in Sind and Affghanistan in 1841-42, including the dvance on Candahar and the several operations of the army under Major General Nott, leading to the reoccupation of Ghuznee and Cabool (Medal, and was severely wounded at the second affair of Hykulzye). Served also with the deld force n Sind in 1843, including the battle of Hyderabad (Medal). Commanded a detached field force srust the rebels in the Jhansi and Jaloun districts during the monsoon of 1858, and at the capture of the rebel strongholds of Mow and Mahonie.

* Major General E. Atlay served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshah *(wounded), and Sobraon, and reduction of the Fort of Kot Kangra (Medal and two Clasps). Punjaub campaign of #4-40 with the force under Brigadier General Wheeler (Medal). Served in command of a Battery of Horse Artillery against the Mohmunds in the Peshawur Valley in December 1863. Commanded Royal Artillery with the Hazara Field Force in 1868 under General Wilde (Medal with Clasp, and CB.).

Major General Ayles served at the battle of Navarino in 1827 (Medal with Clasp). Commanded the Royal Marines at the capture of Aden, 19th January 1839; and was also at the destruction of 29 war junks in China in 1840 (Medal). Major General R. C. Babington served as a volunteer in the Kaffir War of 1851, under Sir Harry Smith, in mmand of the 2nd European Levy, and was present in several skirmishes while patrolling in the neighbourhood King William's Town (Medal).

Major General E. A. H. Bacon served at the suppression of the mutiny at Aurungabad in June 1857, and subrent relief of Mhow; present with the Malwa Field Force at the siege and capture of the fort of Dhar, at Mindesore, battle of Gurraria, and subsequent capture of that village on the 23rd and 24th November 1857; served ss Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General with the first Brigade Central India Field Force, including the siege and storm of the fortresses of Chandaree and Jhansi, battle of the Betwa, action of Koonch, the different actions on 100 banks of the Jumna from the 15th to the 23rd May ending in the capture of Calpee; the action of Morar, and capture of Gwalior (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).

Major General J. Baillie served throughout the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Moodkee Ferozeshah, and Sobraon (Medal and two Clasps).

Major General A. P. Bainbridge served in the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal). Major General Balmain served the Coorg campaign in April 1834, and was present in three affairs in charge of Artillery. Commanded operations and charge of Artillery at the capture of Nunchair, Hyderabad country, and Book active part in the assault on 18th June 1842 (conduct noticed for eminent spirit and gallantry). Employed in soverai expeditions against marauders in the Nizam's dominions from 1842 to 1851. Conducted investment of and commanded Artillery at the capture of the Fort of Rai Mihun in Dec. 1850. Commanded Battery of Artillery at the Biege of Daroor in 1851.

Major General F. C. D. Barclay served with the 12th Regiment in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal). Major General De Symons Barrow served in Oude during the suppression of the mutiny in 1858-59: present "the action for the relief of Sandeela and at the action of Jummoo (mentioned in despatches). Coin nanded a Regiment of Military Police with the Column under Sir George Barker in all subsequent operations till the conCOL of the campaign. Had Divisional command of the Military Police watching the Nepaul Frontier after the rest of the rebel ariny and until the withdrawal of the Police in October 1859 (Medal).

Major General J. L. Barrow served with the Field Force against Kurnool in 1839. Served throughout the first Camese war of 1840-43, including the attack of the Heights of Canton, Amoy, Chapoo, second capture of Chusan, Nzzo, Heights of Segoan, Woosung, Shanghae, Nankin, and operations in the Yangtsekiang (Medal). Served is the Bundlecund Field Force in 1857-58 and was present at the battle of Banda (Medal with Clasp for Central las, and Brevet of Lt.Colonel).

Major General H. T. Bartlett commanded the 18th Punjaub Infantry on the occasion of the mutiny of the 51st Bal Native Infantry at Peshawur on the 28th August 1857 and was wounded (Medal). Served as Treasurer with he Abyssinian Expeditionary Force in 1867-68 (mentioned in despatches, Medal).

Major General J. C. Bartley served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the 4th Regiment, including the attles in the Crimea and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Major, 5th Class of the Medjidie, aal Turkish Medal).

Major General N. Barton served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Served in the Afghan war in 1-79, and was present in the affair at Saif-u-deen (mentioned in despatches, Medal).

*Major Generai C. B. Basden served against the insurgents in Bundlecund in 1844-45 including the capture of the Set of deguahut. Received a sabre wound in the right arm at the mutiny of the late 61st Bengal Native Infantry the 7th June 1857; served afterwards in the Indian mutiny campaign (Medal). Was in command of the 5th 4-7qub Cavalry and frontier of Dehra Ismael Khan on the 13th March 1860 when 3000 Mahsoon Wuzeerees who stened the city of Tak were repulsed, leaving 200 dead on the field.

Major General J. Bates served in the Sind campaign in 1843 and was present at the battle of Hyderabad ✓ Mertil. Commanded a field detachment engaged in operations against the rebels in the Rewa Kanta in 1858. **Major General G. M. Battye served in the Burmese war in 1852-54, and was present at the recapture of Pegu fal with Clasp for Pegu).

* Major General C. R. Baugh served with the Bombay Column in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the ze and surrender of Mooltan, and was severely wounded when engaged in dragging guns into the breaching Mattery opposite the Khoonee Bourj (Medal with Clasp); served in command of the oth Bombay N.I. with the ora Field Force in 1858, including the action at Ambapawnee. Mafor General J. L. Benwell was employed on field service with the Kamptee Movable Column in the Saugor and Nervidda Territories and Raepore district from 17th July 1857 to 30th April 1858, and was present in the Erazement with the mutineers of the 52nd Bengal N.I. and rebels near Kuttengie 27th September 1857 and Khonee Pass 271 December 1857 (Medal).

67 Major General H. I. Bett was employed on field service in the Raichore Doab from 4th June to 5th Aug. 1858. Major General Henry Beville commanded the Left Wing 1st Belooch Battalion throughout the Rohilcund campaign in 1858; present with General Penny's Column at the action of Kurkralee, and with the force under the Commander in Chief at the action before Bareilly, and capture of the town, actions of Bunnee and Mahomdee, attack by the rebels on Shahjehanpore, and several minor affairs (Medal). Commanded the 27th Bombay Native Infantry (Belooches, throughout the Abyssinian campaign, and was present at the action of Arogee and assault of Magdala (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, and Medal).

69 Major General W. H. Binny served during the operations against the hill tribes in the Peshawar District in 1855 (Medal with Clasp). Commanded the Banda Military Police Battalion at the relief of Kirwee in Dec. 1858, and subsequent operations against the rebels in the Banda District and adjoining Native States (Medal).

Major General H. P. Bishop served the Punjaub compaign of 1848-49, including the siege and surrender of Mooltan, and battle of Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps). Boisragon served in the Burmese war in 1852-53, and was present at the relief of the Garrison of Pegu, and commanded a Field Force against the rebel chief Mong Gouneggie (Medal with Clasp for Peru). Served also in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58; commanded a Wing of the Kumaon Goorkha Battalion at the siege, storm and capture of Delhi (dangerously wounded); commanded a Force in the Saharunpore district, and on the 10th Jan. 1858 encountered and beat back across the Ganges at Hurdwar upwards of 1000 of the enemy with 4 guns, destroying many of the enemy and capturing arms and munitions of war-thanked by Government (Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major).

80 Sir George Bourchier served the Gwalior campaign of 1843-44, including the battle of Punniar (Bronze Star). Commanded a Field Battery during the Indian mutiny and present at the actions of Trimmoo Ghat on the 12th and 16th July 1857, siege assault and capture of Delhi (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major), actions of Bolundshuhur, Allyghur, and Agra, relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, and defeat of the Gwalior Contingent st Cawnpore (repeatedly mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, CB., Medal with two Clasps). 89 Major General E. W. Bray served with the 31st Regt. throughout the campaign of 1842 in Afghanistan quier General Pollock, and was present at the actions of Mazeena, Tezeen, and Jugdulluck, the occupation of Cabon, and the different engagements leading to it (Medal). Served at the capture of Khytul in May 1843 with the Umballa Brigade. He commanded Detachments of Infantry and Cavalry in the suppression of the electi riots at Nottingham in July 1865, and was commended by H.R.H. the Commander in Chief "for his admirabla and praiseworthy conduct, and the firmness and ability he displayed on that occasion." Served with the ta King's Own throughout the Abyssinian campaign, and was present at the action of Arogee and capture of Magdala, and commanded the Rear Guard of the Army continuously on the return to the const (mentrated in despatches, Brevet of Lt. Colonel, and Medal). Commanded the 2nd Battalion of the 4th Regiment thro izbout the Zulu war of 1879, and commanded the Utrecht District daring the latter part of the war.

Major General Algernon Brendon served in the Eastern campaign of 1854, and up to March 1855, including

FM General D. Briggs served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857 as Superintendent of the Army Trans Train, and was present at the siege and capture of Delhi (Medal with Clasp). Major General W. L. Briggs served on the frontier of Upper Sind with the Sind Irregular Horse from 1852 to October 1856; proceeded in command of two squadrons Sind Irregular Horse and a body of troops of the Khan of Kelat, escorting treasure arms and ammunition to Quettah for Meer Dost Mahomed Khan of Cabool (received the thanks of the Governor General of India in Council for this service). Commanded 1st Sind Irregular Horse in the Persian expedition in 1857 (Medai with Clasp). Proceeded in October 1857, in command of Head Quarters 1st Sind Irregular Horse, towards Nassick and joined the Field Force under Brigadier Macan then in pursuit of rebel Bheels a Ancola: present at the attack and capture of the fortress of Awah in January 1858 (Medal). Commanded 3rd Sind Horse throughout the Abyssinian campaign of 1867-68, including operations against Magdala (mentioned in despatches, Medal, and CB.).

Major General T. Brougham served in Affghanistan in 1841-42. Defence of Candahar in May 1842 and operations of the Candahar Force, leading to the reoccupation of Cabul (Medal). Sutlej campaign in 1846, including the battle of Sobraon (Medal). Capture of Kangra in 1846. Commanded the Peshawur Mountain Train in various engagements on the Trans-Indus Frontier from 1853 to 1859. Served on the Peshawur Frontier during the Indian mutiny (Medal). Bruce served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1857, and was present at the homFalment and capture of Mohumra (Medal with Clasp). Served with a detachment of the 4th Bombay N.I. Major General R. S. Burge was employed on field service in Saugor and Nerbudda Territories in the suppression of the Indian mutiny from 6th February 1858 to 31st December 1859; present at Jushung, Kobrai, the battle Banda, surrender of Kirwee, when the rebel chiefs Narrian Rao and Madho Rao surrendered themselves prisoners, and escorted them as State prisoners through the disturbed districts of Jubbulpore, when they were Landest over to the civil authorities; was present at the affair at Larcherra 6th December 1853 (Medal with Clasp). Major General Burnett served with Brigadier General Wheeler's Force in the Punjaub in 1848-49 (Medal). 16 Major General J. I'. W. Campbell served the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Moodkee and Ferozeshah-severely wounded (Medal and Clasp). Served in the expedition under Colonel Mackeson against the Hanzaies on the Ilazara border in 1852-53 (Medal with Clasp). Served as Staff Officer of the Punjaub Irregular Porce with the expedition against the Bozdar Hill Tribe in 1857 and was present at the taking of the Khanbund Defile. Major General G. F. Carnegie served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battle of Ferozeshah and surrender of Kote Kangra (Medal). Served also in the Punjaub campaign in 1848-49 (Medal).

Major General W. Carnell served throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the Zeral and battle of Goojerat (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58, and comLanded a detachment of the Mhairwarra Local Battalion at the attack on Ahwa on the 18th September 1857 (Medal). Major General C. P. Catty served throughout the Kaffir war of 1850-53 (Medal); acted as Field Adjutant to the lafantry at the commencement of hostilities in the engagement in the Boomah Pass, and on the following day when capacitated by wounds, was several times nearly taken prisoner. Present at Fort White when that post was stormed a large force of the enemy, who were repulsed by a small garrison under Major Mansergh. In May 1851 he was Sppointed Commandant of an Irregular Corps of Europeans, designated "Catty's Rifles," and during thirteen montha of the most active period of operations this Corps did good and gallant service, being engaged in nearly every patrol the 2nd Division, the same being frequently acknowledged in general orders, and the various reports of Commanders Divisions. On the disbandment of Catty's Rifles," he rejoined his Regt. (the 6th), and proceeded with the expeon against the paramount chief Kreli, and on his return to head-quarters was appointed to the command of Fort Grey, which he held till the cessation of hostilities, during which period, besides rendering the post pertly defensible, waggons and cattle, which were on three occasions taken by the enemy and driven off, were recapand by the garrison under Captain Catty. Was twice severely wounded by musket-balls in the Boomah Pass. Major General G. Cavenagh served as Interpreter to the 54th Foot during the Indian mutiny (Medal). Served th the 16th Bengal Native Infantry during the Chinese war of 1860-61, and commanded a party at the west gate ing the attack on Shanghaie by the rebels on the 19th 20th and 21st September 1860 (Medal). Served in the basotan campaign (Medal with Clasp).
